The show has prominent, complex roles for black women, Latinas, lesbian and bisexual women, and perhaps the first major role for a trans woman played by a trans woman, the wonderful Laverne Cox. There remains, however, one important group that the show barely, and inadequately, represents.

Then go after the male dominated media and ask them to make a better male dominated show set in male prisons. Don't use your soap box to get pissy at OITNB and basically demand they make it more about men because statistics.

Learning what? How to be an idiot? I'm not the one claiming he's a feminist it's ashleypants.

Or are you agreeing with me that he's not that much of a feminist?

Water is 71% of the Earth's surface it gets enough representation! Time to give fire its due. God you're such a typical WRA.

Because we've seen all this before. I don't care how feminist this guy claims to be, he uses one of the only women created, women lead shows to launch a but seriously we need to talk about how men are represented (or underrepresented), he ignores shows like Oz in favour of taking down OITNB. His entire complain is

Right on sister! Criticizing a male feminist's opinion that completely reinforces the status quo is for dummies. Disagreement with him is anti-intellectual.

I don't even get that question, is he saying Hunger Games is misandry? Or is he just pondering what if it was a male lead? And if so why?

It's why part of my brain so desperately wants to subscribe to a life motto of: Fuck it! Can't win! Burn it all down with fire! Lots of fire!

Oh yeah there was this whole article celebrating the thin character development of men (which actually wasn't even true, god Slate is dumb.):

I think he wants them to not make this show and make something about men (well ok there can be wives) instead because men are just so underrepresented in film and tv.

United and Unitarian Universalist churches would like to have a word with you about the Catholic church being the most progressive :)

This is beautiful

Yeah. I actually think about 80% of this is actually kinda cute and something I can relate to as someone whose first dates are always what I called logistics dates (what do we call ourselves, can I put it on facebook, what are you looking for, what are your expectations, here's what I want, here's what I expect....).

Well then don't come here? I dunno what to tell you.

They're saying they prefer Gen Y to the term Millennial cause Millennial is a shit name, which it totally is.

That's a punk rock band name if I've ever heard one

Nope because it's not almost zero and there is a very real issue with conflating gay and trans.

It was a good balance of celebrate but remember what work is left to be done.

It's used as a form of harassment. I see no reason why it should be legal in these type f scenarios.

So that makes it ok?

Hmmm good point on people using nudes as a means of harassment. I don't have an answer to that. Maybe an intent based law but then intent is such a mental thing it becomes hard to accurately discern
