Yep, my two-syllable Nile/mile/rile/pile (and also fail/pail/mail/trail) thing is one of my least favourite sounds!

It's exactly the same as Nile to me… but my estuary English definitely makes a bad candidate for accent role model. (Nile has two syllables where I'm from, same as "tile" or "Kyle" or "mile"… and "Niall", of course.) I'm not entirely sure how they say it properly in Ireland, but I don't think I'm too far off.
