OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. I'm watching it on TV and opened my laptop to pass the time during the ad breaks. FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

SERIOUSLY.

YES. I'm only on the internet to pass the time during the bloody advert breaks, and the first thing I see is the end result of the programme I'm watching? For fuck's sake!

Exactly. I'm a photographer so I know what people look like before I pose them, light them, shoot them, edit them, etc — and I know I look rubbish in comparison.

Yes please.

I realise this isn't for me because I'm not American… but, being English, I'm now envisioning an all-panda version of Eastenders, because this is pretty much what Panda Eastenders xmas dinner would be like, which is BRILLIANT.

I get confused about that sort of thing, too. When I was young had a friend who used to joke disparagingly about me "wishing I were Russian" because I was studying Russian and someone then sent me a souvenir from their trip to Russia and it was a necklace with a little doll on — that was basically the extent of my

By FAR the best comment on this post.

Why have I never thought of this? Why have I never seen this asked before? I NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWER.

My friend accidentally (!) had the whole thing waxed off once, and her boyfriend nicknamed her Nomuff for quite some time; we still remind her of it a decade later. Best nickname ever.

I suppose it depends on which dictionary you go by; we use Chambers.

Is it a dreamed/dreamt thing? The dictionary we use in my editorial department lists "pled" as a past participle without comment.

I often have to ask for sigh clarification at work. And others ask me, too. We're a very sigh-aware department, apparently. (We're English; we sigh A LOT.)

Yes! Sometimes you could type "a cool thing happened and I am delighted"… or you could post a picture of yourself looking gleeful surrounded by/in/with evidence of the cool thing. I often think the picture option communicates what I want to communicate more clearly (and conversely I sometimes just write a tiny note

WHOA. Yes.

THE BEST.

Me too. I went to a place: picture of place. I ate some food: picture of food. I wore shoes: picture of shoes. I saw a person: picture of person. I looked at art: picture of art. I had a face: picture of face. I don't write a diary but I take pictures instead. I figure that if people I don't know follow me on

This is my favourite comment thread ever!

Yep, my two-syllable Nile/mile/rile/pile (and also fail/pail/mail/trail) thing is one of my least favourite sounds!

It's exactly the same as Nile to me… but my estuary English definitely makes a bad candidate for accent role model. (Nile has two syllables where I'm from, same as "tile" or "Kyle" or "mile"… and "Niall", of course.) I'm not entirely sure how they say it properly in Ireland, but I don't think I'm too far off.
