“Complicate, then add weight.”

In 1970 a 911T was priced at $6430, which in today’s dollars is about $50,000. A Mach 1 was priced at $3271, which in today’s dollars is about $25,000. What a time to have been a Boomer.

What an ugly little piglet.

You’ll need all that torque to scoot around in this 4600+ lb (!) porker.

The article isn’t clear on that. It claims the only mod in the first run was a muffler, but implies that the car actually might not be limited to 155 mph. From other coverage of this test, it’s clear the limiter was removed.

If it was stock it would have been limited to 155 mph. It has an electronic limiter. Do some research before being an ass.

Stock apart from removing the limiter?

Who doesn’t consider Mazda a mass market automaker? Were you under the impression that they’re a tiny operation that hand-builds exotics? And I wouldn’t use China as an example of organic market growth for BEVs. In the US we are at a much lower % because most consumers have yet to be convinced. Restricting what people

Mazda is investing in ICE. They have a new inline-6 about to come to market. So are Porsche, Ford, Chevrolet, etc. And many of the companies that pledged to sell no more ICE cars set dates significantly later than 2035, which makes sense given the small share of BEV sales compared to ICE sales now.

This is going to get rolled back.

Lotus Evora?

Maybe, but when I think of actually putting money down on a car, build and materials quality, reliability, and efficiency matter more than on an Internet forum too.

I think you just described Dodge’s business case.

If I had had your shopping list I might have checked out whatever Lotus Evora fell in the price range. Similar powertrain to the F-Type S, but lighter and mid-engined, and even has vestigial rear seats like a 911. Looks pretty exotic too, if you’re looking for emotion. Can’t say much about the build quality, but the

Car and Driver testing saw the Supra do it 3.7 secs. For the Boxster, it depends on which model, but Car and Driver tested a GT4 with PDK and it did it in 3.3 secs. Of note is that both of those are RWD, while the R that does 3.5 is AWD, no doubt helping it launch.

ChEaPeR tHaN tHe ZuPrA!!!

Good points. I think opinions differ a lot on the image of Jags. Some apparently see a top-flight luxury brand with a storied past, while others see a cut-rate Aston Martin poseur with perennial financial problems, confused direction, and bottom-tier build quality and reliability. In the UK the stereotype of the Jag

I’m not sure why anyone would get the Jag over a Z4 or Supra. They’re about 500 lbs lighter, have almost the same cargo space, a better 0-60, better fuel economy, and perform better on track. And the Supra in particular is about $30k cheaper.

It’s as effective a slogan as “defund the police” when you really mean, let’s reallocate police funds to make them more effective and equitable and maybe even increase their funding for training, etc.

Here the real culprit isn’t cars, but bad urban planning.

Poor Jalopnik. https://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-best-takedown-of-the-speed-kills-myth-you-1302382244
