Calling the Bullitt’s car chase good “for its time” is utterly ridiculous, given that it began so many conventions of all great car chases that followed, like cutting the music to let the cars become the soundtrack. It’s like saying Star Wars was a good sci-fi flick for the 1970s.

What shape is this person who struggles to get into a Charger and then can’t reach the controls? I’m imagining a real-life SpongeBob SquarePants.

I thought the Supra had its own unique platform shared with the Z4, not the CLAR?

But there are cars that do better or worse in mpg when driven hard even if they have equally high peak hp. The aforementioned Supra still gets over 20 mpg under heavy loads. Porsche and a few other engine makers are known for decent mpg even at high loads, because that kind of efficiency matters in racing. An easy way

But unlike what you stated you can have strong hp and mpg ratings at the same time. Both are measured at specific points, but even then most cars aren’t capable of doing well in both measures. Some are.

The 2020 GR Supra 3.0 got 26 mpg combined and could do 0-60 in 3.7 sec.

You’re making an unfalsifiable argument. Conspicuous consumption is also the primary driver of sales in luxury cars. Do you think most AMG buyers know the difference between their new “63" and the real ones? You’re kidding yourself making such a strong distinction when evaluating both cars and watches is extremely

It’s a slippery slope judging people for buying things they don’t strictly need. Does anyone need to have a car that has a hand-crafted engine that makes them dream of the starting line at Sebring or Le Mans? Of course not. Obviously I’m also biased in thinking that there’s a stronger case for the sensory experience

While certain sonorous performance cars wouldn’t be any better, many modern ones have way better infotainment and are likely safer in an accident than that $2000 Honda though.

Because you want the beautiful music on the weekends, but also have a commute in traffic during the week?

Why buy a Rolex when a Casio tells time better? Because people pay for the beauty of mechanical engineering and complexity.

At this price you need to really value being different to not end up in a GT4...

Given the border with Greece and the history, I think Southern Europe might be the best way to describe the old part of Istanbul.

Can I just say that this article is the type of content that brought me to Jalopnik in the first place and I’m happy to see it here again!

The European market still gets what was the 2020 model in the US. But that one made 339 hp at the wheels when C&D put it on a dyno. So it had about 380 hp at the crank and the 2021+ US models advertised with 382 hp are pushing over 400.

It’s like being in a Viper, except your forward vision isn’t also obstructed and you have about an inch more headroom.

If you believe the Supra has only 335 hp, I have some swampland in Florida that may be of interest to you. It dynos for 339 hp *at the wheels*. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a27543113/2020-toyota-supra-dyno-horsepower/

But I’d say stuffing high-revving (and reliable!) n/a V8s into cars when everyone else is turbocharging, hybridizing, or (gasp!) electrifying is far from boring.

Did you heard about the LFA, ISF, RCF, GSF, LC500, GR Supra, or GT86?
