Oooh a black version would be gorgeous.

Exactly. Gilbert’s description of this “muses” idea was very whimsical, but it reminded me a lot of how scientific discoveries often co-occur. Darwin and Wallace didn’t have muses whispering about natural selection, but they were reading the same scientific literature and making similar natural observations.
I would like to award you COTD!
You just reminded me of the BEST part of studying abroad. When my friend and I would travel on weekends, we’d always hit up a M&W for food to to have on the train or for picnics. Their food hall always had the yummiest things.
Jezebel writers are still hard at work trying to find new ways to convince everyone that they should hate Taylor Swift as much as they do.
Uggh, I don’t think I’d appreciate the updates!
If I remember correctly, there were some really weird parallels between her daughters murder and some rather random things in her book? I don’t remember the details, but it was super-creepy.
I’ve watched most of the first two seasons of Outlander, but I skipped that episode (I had read the books so new it was coming). That’s one of my major frustrations with the show... the book has way too much rape and violence as plot devices, and the showrunners really leaned into showing more of it than is necessary…
Yeah, and I suspect they only hire people that will saying yes/agree with them at all times, instead of giving their honest opinions/advice (which they clearly have no interest in hearing or taking).
I’ve gonna give her a pass, it is literally her job to look pretty, smile at people, and warmly/politely interact even if she doesn’t want to or doesn’t like them... and the woman who Prince William supposedly cheated with (who was a former close friend) was at the dinner to, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was…
Since I read a Twitter thread about this, I now have new knowledge! Apparently gloves (in kidskin and in satin) loosen as they warm up, which means if they feel like fit well when you try them on, they’ll soon look baggy when you were them. So the trick to find well-fitting gloves is to getting a pair that feels a bit…
I read a very long, detailed Twitter thread yesterday critiquing the outfits of everyone with regard to how they fit the etiquette norms, and yes gloves are fairly standards, with opera length being the norm if you have most of your arms exposed. And bare shoulders aren’t proper, unless you have something like a cap…
The most ridiculous thing is... his friend warned him he was being creepy. The girls told him, straight-up, he was being creepy. He still can’t understand that he is creepy and inappropriate, and at this point... there’s really nothing that will.
I think they are gorgeous, and if it weren’t for my concerns for my grown-up ankles and feet that can no longer wear the sort of giant platform/chunky heels that my young self would wear... I would want them. I find the chain detail a bit much, and I’d be even more excited for a pair with purple or royal blue instead…
Thanks! Guess I’m reading them slightly out of order... but I’ve also been working my way through historical fiction that happens later in not-quite-order, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
Which Sharon Kay Penman’s book covers Matilda? I haven’t read any of her books but just picked up Here by Dragons, and if I like that I’ll probably continue reading more of her books!
Ehh, I don’t think they should have even given her a tragic backstory. If they want to make it sympathetic...make it a story of being socially excluded because she was left out of the invite to the town’s biggest party.
Yes! She’s my favorite villain, and the live-action version just watered her down into a really trite story. Maleficient is straight out of old-time fairy lore, where fairies are petty, jealous, capricious creatures who will f- things up if you piss them off. The whole point is the fairies that were invited and…
Ehh, I agree, but they failed to show that and connect the dots this season. I completely agree it’s been shown in previous seasons, and I stopped being a Dany fan once it was she was on the white-savior-who-can’t-rule arc... but this season lacked the development needed to complete her arc.
Ehhh, one of things I originally liked about the books is it showed many of the different ways that women seize and wield power in a society which gives them very little. I thought initially he was better with female characters development, but only got to the fourth book and by then it’s blur anyway... my point is,…
