It is pretty hard to live in the modern world and give a damn and not be a hypocrite, but I find it is easier to avoid animal products than, say, quit flying/driving or using products with coltan.

I really look forward to (presumably) getting Beth’s backstory. The girls were at her sister’s house on one of the holiday episodes so I know Beth has family in town. I want to see her side of the family!

At least it’s not as emotionally manipulative as a Joss Whedon show.

I read this article on io9, and I was like, “Wow, I actually agree with the comments!” Then I saw this was originally published on Jez.

How about writing/painting/stenciling on canvas and pinning it on to your bump with safety pins, like a punk jacket patch?

The AirBnB hosts in DC haven’t been able to book their rooms, either. Nobody wants to go to inauguration.

I gave birth in November and they also wouldn’t let the baby leave my side, but they let any random people walk in. I had in my birth plan no uninvited visitors and my in-laws wander in while I was still naked and being sewn up. Later some guy wanders into my recovery room with flowers... oops wrong room.

That is great! We try to pay a few hundred extra every month. I don’t want to move anytime soon so I fantasize about living here without a mortgage. There is bow a housing shortage in our city (Seattle) so I feel very fortunate I won’t have to worry about rent hikes.

That’s inpressive! I thought I was doing well. I bought my house in 2010 and still have about 13 years left on my mortgage.

Here in Seattle, the Womxn’s March is set to be the biggest inauguration protest of the weekend. The “feminist message” is exactly what is getting new people to turn out who have never been to a march before. My family from the suburbs is even coming!

Wow, the fake accusation that “protesters throw feces” and “spray urine” is still around?

My partner was arrested filming a protest at the RNC in 2008 and the police initially charged him with throwing feces. IIRC, recall that the feds came to town to scare the local city council with “The anarchists are coming!” and

Then you’ll be ready to make your purchase next time the housing market crashes.

I’m glad you are still saving up for a home! A lot of folks our age give up on the dream. My in-laws bought their first home in their 50s, so I don’t think it is ever too late.

No, I don’t think a nice wedding is an investment. I was trying to imagine how affluent parents rationalize the expense. Marriage itself has financial perks, but a courthouse ceremony is very cheap.

I love reading these stories! I also really enjoy hearing stories about how women get by, considering how much harder it is to make ends meet than it was for our parents and grandparents.

Is he disappointed she became a mere teacher?

Grandparents can be such a safety net! My parents were/are working class (but not poor) and my grandparents were able to help with childcare, and one time, a personal loan so my dad could buy a house. Now that I have my own kid, I still rely on my own parents for childcare and emotional support and a dad who will show

Parents probably think they’re investing in their kids with the tuition and down payment, but do they see a nice wedding as an investment too, or just a fancy party?

Was the water so shallow she could still breath while her head was wedged in the window?

New Paige is no relation to old Paige?
