I have mistakenly handed delivery driver's & servers "extra" money. Usually, it's just like this case and I accidentally give a $5 more than needed. I can totally see how this may have started out as an honest mistake. Because I'm bad with cash and sometimes I space out on basic math...

Agreed. I was certainly grateful... but it's irksome that it even "had" to happen that way. I believe that 6-weeks minimum paid leave for women who have been working 6+ months before giving birth should be mandatory for everyone. You're absolutely right. I worked in retail (part time, then management) for many years, and I remember the struggle all too well. It's just not possible to be happy, productive, and comfortable when you work in certain industries/environments.

The first full day of my labor? I was at work. I was dilating at my desk, and had no idea. That wasn't my employer's fault. Even my doctor didn't realize my daughter was coming 11 weeks ahead of schedule when he saw me in person after that workday was over.

Oh I was super grateful. He didn't have to do that, and I literally cried at my desk when I saw the email (nobody was around, thank god!).
