I can totally see that. I don’t know about the others but Shannen Doherty had already been in the business for a LONG time by the time she was cast in 90210. She may be/may have been a bitch but she’s been in the business for long time. And, I daresay, she was probably the most talented of the crew.

On the one hand, that’s true, and if she were making a movie about rape in the typical context, that would be a reasonable critique. But she’s making a movie about British imperialism in Tasmania, and that’s a radically different context, and in that context, that more violent take seems relevant and justified.
