Absolutely, I find that quite an uncomfortable thing to unexpectedly witness.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have a PhD if not for Captain Janeway . . . but I am saying I struggle to think of too many good female scientists on telly when I was a kid.
Nice recovery ;)
Not a book though . . .
Holly Lisle's 'Secret Texts' - the messiah is killed in book two and the rest of the series is pretty much everyone going "so what now?" as a kid it totally threw me by breaking all the conventions. Loved it.
Yes but it's been 30 years. If Leia hasn't spent the last 30 years as a leader she's been wasted
Real tears dude, real tears ... :'(
I know it's late and this will probably be buried, but I'd like io9's thoughts on something that's been bugging me all evening.
Very much hoping that Daisy's character takes a few cues from early EU Jaina. Seeing the speeder gives me hope.
You might be me, which is worrying. But yes, all of the above.
Oops typo!
Dear lord that looks appalling. What's wrong with the old staple?
Its a good exercise - but seeing as I'm not even sure what cheese fried with ranch dressing are I'm not going to blame myself for getting the calories wrong.
By the way I love your handle :)
I don't know that the eagles are necessarily an allegory for the USA, but I do find it amusing that Americans seem to get so annoyed about last minute rescues. They're a fantasy archetype, codified by Tolkein.
Now that's the kind of Doctor Who I've been really missing, funny, clever, not trying to skirt around a possible abortion message . . . best episode of this series yet. Capaldi, yet again, completely nails it. That celebratory dance was just hilarious.
I've been ranting about this for years on io9. Doctor Who drove me crazy this week too. Why are we so vehemently anti-science in our media?
It's not that long ago that the Doctor was similarly rude and dismissive to Mickey Smith, and it was played off as a joke.
