Stephen Donaldson - Mordant's Need. Loquacious and very complex, lots of kick ass but flawed women. It really made me appreciate the fact I was not a wilting damsel in distress. The fact that the Terisas, Eligas, Torrents and Mysts of this world can find common ground and reconcile themselves is something you rarely

The British art for the Pern dragons was always much better

Jesus - the Mists of Avalon. That takes me back. I remember lending it to my aunt after and finding certain passages got very dogeared!

I have to be honest - Lessa and F'lar certainly, ahem, awoke some feelings inside of me as a young teen.

I am so fricking excited about this. One of my friends once told me that Elena reminded her of me and I've been bragging about it ever since. Otherworld F!Yeah!

But Harry thought it referred to him too - that he was doomed to die etc. etc.

Surely Harry Potter deserves to be on here. The interpretation of Trelawney's prophesy is a key part of Voldemort's design

Oh it's superb!

Jeyne Poole has a horrific storyline. What is it she says when Reek comes to see her? "Not the dogs"?

Just stare into those dead eyes . . .

I could definitely see that happening to her.

I keep thinking she's going to get pregnant at some point. Motherhood is quite an important theme and it would be interesting to see Sansa with her view on life going through that trial.

Correct. Gold star.

My dad did something similar - he's a devout communist and someone gave me a Thomas The Tank Engine book. So he read the stories to me with Thomas and the engines always pulling one over the fat controller. Then he made the book disappear because he was sick of it.

I think the point-and-shoot is dead, and I say this as someone who started in photography because she loved her Canon PowerShot so much. But even though I still carry a Powershot in my bag, I'll reach for my phone more often than not.

That's outside of my field of expertise, pardon the pun. I am an expert in animal behaviour and this study does alarm me for not showing enough of their methodology.

You know what? This is a paper I'm actually going to have to read for myself. It seems so contrary to my own observations!

Oooh difficult to say - I think because of the novelty of 'never used' when I first read it (and the shock of being made to ~Feel~ with only six words) makes it more memorable to me. This one is more horrific than sad. 'Never used' is sad for the parents, this one implies suffering for the child. Ugghhhh

Wow. Well we can never be friends. I adore this adaptation. I think it's spectacularly funny and gets the sisterly rivalry between Lydia and Elizabeth down pat.
