Thanks, I'll check that one out. See it SOUNDS like I should like it! Maybe the one I tried a few years ago was just a blip.

Now I have problems with Ken MacLeod - he went to my uni, did my course, has similar political beliefs to me, but the one book of his I tried to read really turned me off. I feel like I should be making more of an effort.
Oh Moist. <3
Hell I agree with you. I love a good conspiracy theory. I was poring over ONTD all last night and not a single person had seen it.
Yes, now this is something we should be having internet rage over!
Our understanding of 'dominance' is just plain wrong. There's an interesting paper from 1983 showing that we're likely to find a dominance hierarchy in a set of interactions through chance alone. Although lots of ethologists have developed different ways of measuring dominance, this problem still exists.
I strongly recommend adding John Bradshaw's 'In Defence of Dogs' to the list of links. He discusses why using dominance theory has actively harmed our understanding of domestic dog behaviour, and then why we shouldn't be comparing wolves to dogs at all with a chapter dedicated to wolf behaviours. It's a really…
It's why I'll forever love Kelley Armstrong's 'Otherworld' series for a quick "real wolf packs are different but werewolves have alphas" and then getting along with the plot. Man I adore that woman.
It's not mother's day in the UK (and even if it were, me and my mum don't celebrate it in a quasi-hippy pact against capitalism) but her interest in Sci Fi is pretty deep.
Has someone beaten me to the punch? I haven't seen anyone talk about it. Admittedly, I'm somewhat out of the Who fandom these days.
Mark my words, Clara's reveal will happen within a circle. In every episode we've had some shot of her framed within a circle, some of them very deliberate and odd
In very broad brushstrokes I agree, but Deadwood was still much more about allegiance and duality whereas Defiance is more about broader concepts of civilisation. I think it's much closer to Farscape, unsurprisingly, if talking about lawless civilisations.
Oh yes a little triangle - Jemma doesn't realise how she feels about Leo until Skye starts charming him, but he's been friendzoned for so long he doesn't see the signs. Yes, yes, I'm sure A03 is filling up already
I quite like Defiance but I have to disagree with the idea that it's 'an alien Deadwood'. Deadwood wouldn't be seen 'dead' with even the strongest of Defiance's scenes.
Let's start with the important questions:
How old are you? Go sit on the naughty step for that number of minutes and come back when you're ready to apologise.
His unbelievably sexy turn in Alien3?
And to think I got internet mobbed for expressing disbelief that ABC wouldn't pick Shield up.
This is one of these interesting questions that people always laugh it. I know of one project which looked at how relaxing music/radio was to cows in a milking parlour but to the best of my knowledge nothing was published.
