We're not all like that, this guy is just a huge douchebag.

I'm from the Netherlands where a large majority of people bike every day. I've never come across this level of snobbishness towards other people's choices in bikes. It seems it's very common here in the US though among the urban cyclists to obsess about all components of the bike.

Hey! Awesome! As far as I have seen, that is the best piece of advice you are likely to ever write! Kudos!

Cool! It seems like you don't like my blog, feel free to never read it again.

I have a graduate degree in biology. We tend to frown on unsupported just-so stories like yours.

That's an oddly facist answer. He didn't mention anything about supplying his opinion, yet you instructed him not to have it.

Your assertion about the term "straightforward," is patently not true. Straightforward is, literally (and I mean really literally, not the mis-used literally) the opposite of hard. They are actually mutually exclusive. It's true!

i get that you like to showcase kickstarter projects to show them some love and improve their chances of getting funded. but from personal experience, kickstarter is just a fucking scam. Of the five projects I've backed, one perk has arrived, 7 months late (the machine era wallet), another is still in development (the

I feel your pain but you're beating a dead horse here, Gizmodo stopped being a gadget blog a long time ago which is silly considering how many different blogs there are in the network that stories such as this could be filed under. Oh well.

Just like a woman. Dazzled by trinkets.

You forgot that Godzilla is basically a walking nuclear reactor. That's were he gets his/her/whatever energy from.

This invention is elitist and stupid. It might be a fun toy, but it won't improve those poor families life.

The idea (of the soccer ball that powers a light bulb) is just stupid, and they raised $92k to do it? There are some really dumb investors out there. I mean I get it... really poor people want to kick a ball around in these countries because soccer is pretty popular, but it was a poor idea to put (probably cheap)

http://www.poverty-action.org/blog/cash-or-c… No secret, though well intentioned to help other, programs like this tend to solve the"feel good" problem of wealthier western donors. "Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish..." Though giving $60 doesn't solve next year's needs of this family

So with the kickstarter money they could've hooked up 1500+ homes to the grid instead of giving them a weak flashlight in the form of a soccer ball? Wow...

Not all cyclists are the same, obviously. However, the fair majority that I see will only follow the "rules of the road" when its suits them best. Come up on a red light? They'll ride up between all the vehicles, then move to the side, and ride on through the red light. Cyclists are also unpredictable. Some ride

How about stop riding on the streets and commute via public or private motorized transportation. Cyclists are the cancer of america's roadways.

I am very willing to, and have, thoroughly considered all of your points. I have clicked your links, read through your sources, and commented on them in hopes of fostering a logical and rational debate on the topic at hand.

One of those apples seems edible, though one seems like it might be an orange and the other one is... what is that? Is that a mango? I am not really up on my fruit-based metaphors, and I wouldn't want to proscribe their usage anyway (lawl).
