But Marvel understood the importance of branding, putting that instantly-recognizable animated company logo in front of IIRC Spider-Man and almost every movie based on Marvel characters after that. So even before the MCU, Marvel was a household name. WB only cared about Batman and Superman. Even when they released

Catwoman is from that period in the early 2000s when superhero movies were making a comeback from near-extinction following Batman & Robin, but studios and filmmakers generally didn’t get the concepts, seeing them as action movies designed to showcase the stars, or in the case of Ang Lee’s Hulk, the director. The

Yeah cancelling the Flash will be a really telling move. My guess is they are going to wait to see how sucessful Black Adam is, and maybe Aquaman, before they decide.  And maybe waiting to see if Ezra can stay out of trouble until then.

You know, if Black Adam doesnt suck it would be a pretty good way to start a new DC movie universe . . . .

Oh this is not him leaving his stamp. At all.

It happens more often than you’d imagine. There have been major productions with big stars that were permanently shut down due to disputes, like the original 1985 version of The Two Jakes and Broadway Brawler, a 1997 comedy starring Bruce Willis. Darren Aronofsky almost made The Fountain in 2002 with Brad Pitt and

See, I think you are right about Zaslov being concerned about the state of the IP, but the sheer amount of cancellations at this point begins to come in contrast to that; Surely part of the point of HAVING that much IP is to USE it, as opposed to just cancelling everything.

Oh I doubt those fools actually did anything. I think they’re just reporting factual news in bad faith by adding their own biased speculation and possibly made-up sources.

After reading the description of the movie I’m not surprised. It sounds like there was no script, just half-assed attempts at fan service. When one of the directors says you’re gonna have to have seen every Batman movie from the last thirty-odd years to follow the plot, that doesn’t inspire confidence.

Studio insiders insist the decision was not driven by the quality of the film or the commitment of the filmmakers, but by the desire for the studio’s slate of DC features to be at a blockbuster scale,”

This makes so little sense to me. Hollywood Reporter claims that it was due to David Zaslav wanting to focus on theatrical releases, but the movie completed production. It was going straight to HBO Max. And the sources claiming that it tested so poorly they were afraid it would hurt their brand carry more than a whiff

How the #$%& is it that we are 22 years into the comics movies renaissence and DC hasnt been able to get either Batgirl or Robin, let alone Nightwing, on the big screen???????

How is it that the arcs of the MCU and DCEU have diverged so widely?

I think this has to be a good part of it. But even then it doesn’t seem to make total sense. If the movie is horrid, they could quietly release it to HBO Max or direct to video or something to try to recoup some money from it.

Keaton is an A list star who has no reason to repise his role as Batman. You better believe he negotiated for points on the backend.

If it does Keaton is either getting a giant payday or his attorneys’ batsignal just went off.

What the hell is going on at Warner Bros?

Oh DC, dont ever stop being you!

How bad could it be? Remember this is the studio that released Catwoman.

F you Warner. A Latina female led hero was something a lot of people were looking forward to, including this boy.
