I got the same vibe. The cyberbullying sucks but you made a bad game and tried to hand wave it away rather than accept that. It's hard for me to feel too much sympathy for the closure when studios that have made great games can't even stay open (RIP Mimimi).

Or, my personal favorite of you wanting to document something in a competitor game for design but you need to replay a section 10 times over to get it just right on the capture. Literally spent half a week once trying to show a combat system feature in another game.

This was my immediate thought. Most of the people I know in game development have a console just idling on their desk 24/7.

It’s just counting the machine being on and possibly paused in a game, right? One of my machines at work is literally always on when I am looking at content but I might only play for a few hours a week.

Fuck all the store level people working 10 times harder for the same pay, huh?

Yeah I actually assumed when I saw the article on the frontpage the reason for its existence (and for Luke playing it) was because the game came out from early access.

That would require Kotaku to actually do simple research, which is largely a thing of the past with the majority of the writers.

They clarified the 500 hours is if you wanna replay the game with multiple endings and decisions. the campaign and side quest are no where near 500 hours in a single run. this headline is misleading and so is the article that follows it.

Bravo! I was expecting a slideshow I was instantly going to close when I clicked this article. This is great!

They’re not wrong though. Normally if something is worded as “X actions over Y time”, X is considered the total number of times you need to do it. Naturally because the context of the article is that this is a “grind” they should have realized that was not correct from context.
