Agreed, except for the bit about being more willing to unpack a poem. Poetry is scary, and most people won’t even bother to think about it in the abstract, let alone try to understand any of it.

Sometimes it’s possible to make snap judgments, yes. But that’s not quite what I’m talking about, here. There’s having a hunch that something is no good, and just looking closely enough at it to confirm that you’re right, and then there’s totally dismissing something out of hand without a decent reason, which is what

I suggested these for the ladies in Cannes and now I’m suggesting them for Kim.

You are SO starred for using erstwhile and meth in two related sentences. That must be a first of some kind.

I guess he went for the trees because bridges weren’t enough!

I am weirdly bothered by everyone’s shoes.

There once was a chef named Flay

You idiots! These are not them! You’ve captured their stunt doubles!

Don’t read the comments on articles on People.com is just general solid life advice.

I’m uncomfortable with some of the stuff from Lena’s book. But why are we arguing shit vs diarrhea here?

Please tell me I’m not the only grown woman who can’t walk in anything higher than kitten heels. I look like I’ve suffered a traumatic inner ear injury that has caused me to become permanently, precariously unbalanced. It is a shame I bear for life despite my genuine appreciation of heels :C

1) I hate “Full House.” It was on when I was in middle and high school and I thought it was the corniest thing ever. Perhaps the Lifetime Network’s “Full House” movie will be about the creepiness of the older men on the show.

Kimmy isn't annoying! At least not compared to the other characters (staggeringly low bar, I know). She is the closest thing the show had to a tolerable character.

to his credit, George Jason Alexander posted this on twitter

This incident happened at the south end of the south-bound 6 train platform at the Bleecker/Broadway-Lafayette station (they’re connected now (finally)). My wife was coming through the turnstile on the southeast corner of Houston and Lafayette as this whole scene unfolded right in front of her. From what she reported

Yes. In fact the stations, which each have a unique logo, were designed so illiterate immigrants could use the system. You’ll be fine. The subway map is available online, BTW: http://web.mta.info/nyct/maps/subw…

Metros and Light rails go underground...

I wouldn’t really consider MUNI a subway system, but fair enough.

Especially the Embarcadero station during game days, when it’s full of yahoos in black and orange going to a game that is, always, scheduled to start the same time as rush hour. That platform is so small, with most of it taken up by elevators and escalators, there is no where to stand if there are more than 100 people

And this is why no one wants to talk to, or even make eye contact with people on the subway.
