There’s a group in CA that’s dedicated to projects like this and they’re helping her out. http://www.aicls.org/

BTW this is the group that is helping Marie with her language project and they have a really cool program that works for such small language groups. http://www.aicls.org/

I studied language revitalization and education in grad school. I also took a couple of weeks and went to Oregon to learn the basics of my own tribal language. Someday i plan to get back to learning more. :) In the meantime i hope to do more writing to help others with their efforts in passing along their heritage.

BTW this is my field of study and work. My own tribal language is being revitalized through an immersion school and the efforts of many elders to learn it, myself included.

This was mesmerizing to watch!

Yup, it’s not enough to have the ‘blood’ you have to participate too. I was raised off the rez and was concerned I wasn’t going to be accepted when i decided to get back in touch with my heritage. But once I started learning the language and participating in cultural events i’ve been welcomed with open arms and given

Native Californian here who also grew up in the redneck parts of the state. My favorite thing to do to them is to point out that the original constitution was written in Spanish and that it wasn’t until the 20th century that English became more prevalent in the state. Oh and this map makes their heads spin further.

Wow, that was really cool to watch!

I’m just glad that the family has some sort of resolution...

The gif of that video is creepy, yet hypnotic...

If you read the interview I linked in my comment, they actually found a snake in one of the planes, but before takeoff!

Here’s a link to an interview with pilot. And the cat’s name is minou, which is funny if you’re a francophone. She’s been there for around ten years and she has tried one other time to go on a flight, but wasn’t successful. Oh and this was the passenger’s first flight. http://mobile.francetvinfo.fr/decouverte/biz…

Where I’m from that’s called either 4-H or FFA. Which also means that fish would be used to demonstrate how to fillet fish. This story in many ways shows the urban/rural divide.

Just a quick note on her name. While she was born Maria, she also used the French version of her name Marie. (Her awards were given to her using Marie.) Very common practice at the time. Especially since there was quite a bit of tension in the French press about her ethnicity. I hope the movie covers that aspect of

Adding it to his e-book collection now!!
