lol.. i see what you did there! And yes, toilets in China are always an adventure! I mastered the art of making sure my bits were blocked while using a trough model. A couple of friends of mine took pictures of a squatty potty that was over a cliff that they found on their way to tibet! It was similar to this one but

Oh man the troughs... I think I have pictures of those somewhere in storage...

Someday, I'll tell the tale on a kinja sub blog...

Not if you're trying to not shit on yourself!

That and the relative lack of clean places to hold on to while doing your business!

Sure if you're having a normal bm it's not bad. But when you're sick and dealing with diarrhea, you want a seat to sit on!

I totally would've used such a device if it had been available when I was overseas... someday I'll tell the tale of using the facilities in a Chinese train. *shudder*

I showed this video to my hubs whose all sad cuz sprotsball. It cheered him up immensely, but now he wants to move out of our tiny apt. to a house with a big backyard, cuz puppy. So now he's all mopey again. Yeah, that backfired. :(

As someone who's lived in Asia and used her share of squatty potties/toilettes à la turque I'm gonna hafta disagree with you here. There's nothing worse than not being able to sit when the place you ate at the night before is having it's way with your digestive tract! I've never been so happy to have a western toilet

Well if they're Korean they'll love them, if they're not Korean, good luck!

Ooops! I didn't see it or I was so excited by seeing it referenced the link didn't compute!

Now playing

Nice Posh Nosh reference there! Nytimes just did an article on kid's breakfasts around the world. They showed two year old eating natto! I'd link it but I don't want to burn through my free views and kinja hates my phone.

I don't watch the show, but I happened to catch this awesome interview with the actress who plays one of the freaks on the show and while i still won't watch, cuz totally wuss, i do like that they're doing interviews with the actors! http://sfist.com/2014/10/02/leg…

I've lived in a lot of places since then including Asia and Europe so i'm a bit jaded now. I do remember learning some hard lessons when i first moved to the big city and esp after living in the East Bay in the late nineties. Luckily i've never been robbed or assaulted, just a couple of close calls. As i mentioned to

I dunno about this small town safer bizness i grew up in one in the mountains in a one stoplight place and my first grade teacher was murdered by her son and his friends in the 80's. Bad stuff happens, it's just that you tend to know who did it. I've also lived in some pretty rough areas and never was bothered. Meth

I grew up in small towns in rural NorCal and your mom is lying or she moved before meth hit those areas. My cousins best friend murdered her husband in the nineties in a teeny tiny town in those parts. And there's a few unsolved murders from the 80's and 90's that i know of, the difference is you know who's committing

Sounds legit to me and anyone who was a kid in the last twenty years loved the walk down nostalgia lane!

That all looks tasty! As for the dirt cake, that's something that preschool teachers and bored stay at home parents whip up to make eating more interesting for their kids. (normally on halloween) I'm a bit surprised they're offering it at a ren faire?! Oh and i'm with you on the oyster shooters, but then again, i

I'm a big busted gal and the new phones, sadly, make me look like I'm trying to stuff my bra. :/

So i'm guessing that this isn't the appropriate place to drop this link? Cuz that waaaay to tearjerky vid is about drinking and driving... And now i want a puppy... and a cat...
