I’m an atheist. He doesn’t even quote the whole verse, never mind the chapter. It basically says “you shouldn’t be having sex because it’s impure. If you do have sex, get married. If you are married, please don’t withhold sex from your spouse, because if you do they might get sex elsewhere”. Like, READ THE WHOLE… Read more

Using self-harm and suicidal gestures to control victims is the part of domestic violence that will never cease to infuriate me. It’s an incredibly effective form of control and has the fringe benefit of adding stigma to people who struggle with self-harm and suicidality but aren’t abusers. Read more
I am concerned more about the *entire Trump/Pence camp* sharing airspace with the Biden/Harris camp. They have an outbreak and have done little to nothing to contain it, and while I do believe Pence is much more competent about COVID than Trump, I also know that is basically like praising a serial killer because they… Read more

I’ve shopped at farm stores many times, and never bought anything farm related at them. I don’t even buy gardening supplies at them. And like my grandparents were legit farmers and ag education was a mandatory class at my junior high school but yeah, never bought anything. Read more
I was about to get on my midwestern high horse and say IT’S FARM AND FLEET NOT FLEET FARM but um, apparently there’s another alternate universe in the midwest where a chain called Fleet Farm exists.

I have ACA medicaid (I’m a grad student so I don’t make much money) and a stockpile of meds. I refuse to think about losing my coverage because it makes me terrified, even though I’m in a much different place right now that I was when I was in my 20s and uninsured (my savings and student loans could cover the couple… Read more
In real world use condoms are not particularly effective, but with perfect use (which sounds like what you may have been practicing) they are. Surprisingly there are a lot of people who do not use them correctly, and plenty of abusive partners who would purposefully sabotage. Read more

DID is a problematic diagnosis and I am very reticent to suggest anyone has it. There’s been an abundance of academic literature questioning it’s very existence so I won’t rehash that. I personally think it’s probably a culture bound syndrome rather than a neurologically based illness. Which isn’t to say people with… Read more
I wear a valved mask (cambridge mask co) with the valve disabled and I don’t have a fogging glasses issue. If your glasses are fogging that means that your mask isn’t fitted well to your face, which is why adjustable nose pieces and looking at masks that have straps that go behind the head are so important.
The valve… Read more
I’ve been using a reusable valved mask, but with either another mask over it or (more recently) with tape that disables the valve. I’m using it because it’s manufactured to higher standards than most masks, but I wish I could get the mask without the valve. Read more

I have been so sad about this child’s death. I am particularly angry about the fact that they didn’t take her to the hospital before she was “grey” (like you’re a nurse, I know you have a fucking oximeter or can get one), and that they refused to intubate until she was dying. Read more
Part of the reason I am not working at the behavioral health facility I was employed at pre-pandemic is the absolutely abhorrent handling of this pandemic by the nursing managers (and not the floor nurses I worked with- they were great and proactive about masking, but the nurse managers undermined every step to make… Read more
