My friends who are in family med actually do quite a bit of ob/gyn as part of their practice - both the outpatient care and delivering babies, so in theory she should be fairly informed about the medical issues. I have a lot of sympathy for parents of kids with ASD - it’s tremendously difficult to get proper medical and social support and basically being a full time caretaker and advocate really isolates a lot of these parents. There’s also historically been a very sexist component to this, from the “refrigerator mom” theory…

A lot of rice is enriched with folate and some other vitamins that are added on to the rice during processing. Theoretically you might be washing them away, but unless your diet consists of nothing but rice, it’s probably not going to make a meaningful nutritional difference
