I’m specifically talking about them calling it “appropriation” which I disagree with. They seem to be saying that pole dance is only for exotic dancers and anything other than that is “appropriation” which is pretty nonsensical, in my opinion. Pole dance isn’t a sacred art form, it isn’t culturally important to any

These things are bad for you.  They are bad for your feet, they are bad for your ankles, they are bad for your back.  Back when I was in college those huge platforms were ‘a thing’ and I twisted my ankle more than once because I tripped and what would have been just a stumble in regular shoes turned into a books -

“Appropriation” of what? Hoe culture?

Yep, yep, and yep. Shoes should make you more mobile, keep your feet safe and protected and comfortable. Heels in general are a statement that you don’t need, or don’t want, or aren’t able to move around freely.

This reminds me a bit of about two years ago when I started seeing blog posts insisting beards were falling horribly out of fashion and pretty much everyone with a beard was like “Write what you want, internet person, but I’m not going back to shaving everyday.”

Yeah... if I'm going to screw up my feet and ankles I'll do it in ballet flats. I can run away in them, even on sewer grates and gravel, and they come off and on quickly.

This.

This.  If you believe this affords you some of that “stripper empowerment,” cool. But if the only pole you encounter on a daily basis is in a subway car, think safety first.

If you want to fuck up your ankles and get some skinned knees, sure. They aren’t designed to be a street shoe (as discussed in the article).

I don’t like to wear any shoe I cannot flee disaster in. Gotta be able to flee!

Old journalism saying: “Any headline that ends in a question mark can always be answered by the word no.”

Let me help you with that answer: no.

Wrong in this case. In the UK libel/defamation can be fought on many grounds but here it was fought on “defence of the truth”. So while she was not technically the defendant it was entirely her claims and reliability as a witness that was being tested.

I assume he’s suffering from the same removed from reality nuttiness that some famous actors and actresses go through. He has basically been a movie star for more than half his life since his formative years, so he doesn’t know how to adapt when forced to deal with the “real world”, especially when it might not end

Johnny is simply using his bigger bank account to bully Amber. Even with his court certified odd spending, he could force her into bankruptcy just for fun unless the courts decide to finally stop him. He’ll fight her for years just to continue he “alleged” abuse. Fits the pattern he’s already established with her.

But for Depp, this isn’t about people forgetting. It’s about hurting Herd for a long as he can and as much as he can.

But for Depp, this isn’t about people forgetting. It’s about hurting Herd for a long as he can and as much as he can. This is all about revenge, and I don’t think it’s about her article. I think it’s that she left him AND didn’t kowtow to his demands that she walk away with nothing.

Even then at worst for him it’d be the perception of “they abused each other/it was a bad marriage”.

You know Jonny, if you just went quiet for a little while, most people have the memory of a nat and would eventually not care? Then you could go back to making your shitty movies.

She and Rosie O’Donnell had bit parts and they were both clearly having the time of their lives. What a silly reason to back out.
