Didn’t some internet wizard person put out some “despecialized editions” a few years ago, where he stripped out all the trashy extra bits and ‘fixed’the special effects?

Capitalist pig! You obviously don’t know about our five-year plans!
You are, of course, absolutely correct, and I apologize for my poor choice of words.
I think it’d be rather difficult to have the reveal be “the monster is Darth Vader” without it being comical, especially if it was meant to be a surprise.
Han shot. Period.
There’s no “first”.
Han shot, Greedo died, “Sorry about the mess.”
Let’s hope they stay rumors. Nothing against Ridley, who did all she could with some shitty material, but is there really anyone clamoring for more of that story after Rise of Skywalker?
Bad CGI dates sooooo much worse than bad practical.
I’m not even interested in any of the TV shows except for Mandalorian. RoS effectively killed my desire for more Star Wars movies while Disney is running the show.
I know some friends who watched the original cuts at the DGA a year or two ago. I was simultaneously very jealous and very curious as to how it was pulled off. (Maybe someone just had an old print somewhere.)
Fucking hell. Lucas doesn’t even own the franchise anymore, and we still have to watch it based on his preferences!? Just let people watch Star Wars how they wanna watch it.
May he please represent himself.
This likely makes the fool's situation worse, since he should know better than the average "law abiding" citizen.
And the proper original trilogy too. Not those jarring Special Editions.
I agree Andor did show us this.
I watched one of the prequels the other day. The CGI hasn’t aged all that great and I found myself wondering why they haven’t given those movies a big ol’ facelift and dropped them in theaters a la the OG trilogy? They’re not perfect films but they really do stand out in retrospect for the sheer scope of what they…
I would pay to see the original cuts of the original films, although I think part of Lucas’ deal selling to Disney is they can’t release any of the theatrical cuts without his Special Edition edits. He won’t even give the original prints to the National Archive (and they refuse to accept the altered cuts he gave them)
Unfortunately, the fool in question is an attorney.
If Andor showed up anything, I think it’s that there is an interesting in taking Star Wars in different directions, you could do the same with movies.
This. The franchise gain money from toys, games, books and comics licensing. Now, wether does Disney still need to expand those money maker to satiate the mouse greed, that’s the question.
Do they “have to?” Not really. Considering the franchise has gone 10 and 15 years between movies before and still made lots of money.
