they do. kuniskis or whatever said several times that the demon and whatnot had exhausts as loud as he could get them and still pass federal limits. harley makes all their stock bikes under the limit. then sells screaming eagle kits that went way above that. and then they got in trouble for that and stopped selling

It’s a modern supercar with a DCT. Just keep it in auto when in the city and you will cruise around in a high gear and the car can be decently quiet because that’s what it’s designed to do. It’s only when you start dropping gears and keeping the revs up that they can crazy loud.  As long as you are not running in

I think that it is ok for neighborhoods/ cities to want a peaceful environment. I don’t think that “unmodified” vehicles should be exempt from sound enforcement you should be able to short shift/keep the vehicle in a higher gear to keep the RPMs down. There is a difference between driving a loud car and being

HOAs aren’t bad, mine’s awesome. Currently defending us against Amazon data center encroachment.

there isn’t much that residents of The Meadows can do

Yeah, this is confusing as Hell. I had to look it “Kaufmann Language” and most sites that describe it do so in ways that are thoroughly unhelpful. Best I found was this site:

Basically, the HOA is saying that the state law lacks the language that would enforce them to not enact the pickup rule against the residents and until the law contains that language, there isn’t much that residents of The Meadows can do.”

Some residents have taken to parking their trucks in a pay lot over half a mile from the neighborhood,

Most likely a BHPH lot that doesn’t release the title to you until you pay off the absolutely absurd amount ($6k for an 18 year old Taurus is larceny!).

the article does not seem to say - but I think the loan was direct with the dealership and not with a bank.

How is this not theft? If I did this to a neighbor and their lawnmower I would be in prison within 3 days.

I’m assuming this guy is not white given that he calls his daughter “boo.” What are the odds that an Alabama judge would have ordered a white defendant to write an apology note?

Maybe they’re worried about how people would react if they knew that Nintendo outsourced a lot of its games’ development? They probably assume that the Nintendo branding is a key selling point and that’s undermined if it’s readily obvious that Nintendo didn’t actually develop the game.

“A harsh planet, an evil planet, a BUG planet.”

Seems like all the facist red flags in the book went right past your head, mate.

Right, right, there is absolutely nothing fascist about restricting the right to vote or hold office to the people that have gone through the government brainwashing program, and the novel definitely doesn’t glorify fighting and the infantry as the heart of the moral philosophy. It isn’t like the protagonist’s

Only from reading your description, I see the book hits about half of Umberto Eco’s 14 characteristics of a fascist movement. In particular it’s hitting #10 “contempt for the weak” (ie people who don’t “volunteer” for military service) and #11 “everybody is educated to become a hero”.

Sure, but the delivery is related to the genre it was using as a medium for the satire. Starship Troopers is a big, over the top action flick and also biting satire. Its bombastic nature is due to what it is, not its underlying message.

One of my all time favorite movies. The satire is brilliant as is the story and the CGI was and still is top quality.
