@slowtraincoming: Yeah, considered that. I figure the chances of a harassment problem are pretty slim. I also happen to be a tall, very vocal man, so my concern over this sort of thing is less than some other people.

I have a number of objections to the use of these scanners, ranging from privacy to safety. When all is said and done, I don't even believe they make us much safer. The next time I fly, I most certainly plan on opting out, if for nothing more than a protest.

Definitely has potential as an example of how a tablet should be done. Small and cheap, and hopefully we'll see some good app support. Actually, as soon as it is rooted it will be an excellent little tablet.

If that is there big announcement, I would say it is a bit of a let down. It is great, really (I do like the Beetles), but I am sure I will forget tomorrow if that is the case. Probably in about a week.

I love those things. I still have one around that I had as a kid, and I am still held in rapt attention every time I spin it.

I imagine it won't have anything to do with a software feature, as we just had an update. Most likely some new feature of the iTunes store. Of course, I can't imagine any of those that could be all that exciting, so hopefully Apple is more imaginative than me.

@brianjcohen0: While Facebook and Google may both be likely to use our data in ways we don't expect, Facebook as proven themselves likely to share our data with the internet at large. Google occasionally makes privacy mistakes; Facebook's founder has declared privacy dead.

@Zubieta: Same here. The realization that it is a relief instead of an etch makes it at least twice as hardcore.

I can understand people who question vegans and vegetarians (though I don't agree with them) because it is at least a choice you made, but I never understand people who insist on bothering you about a food allergy or sensitivity. As if medically relevant needs will be changed by some insistance at the dinner table.

@theloverly: I am lactose intolerant, and my mother tends to just use soy milk. It is not quite as creamy, so your results may vary, but it does fulfill at least some of the need.

12.5" display at 3lbs? I think I am in love. To bad I don't need a new computer any time soon.

I have that Canon 50 mm f/1.8 lens and I love it. The price absolutely can't be beat.

Facebook has showed me time and time again how little I can trust them with my personal information. I have very little of it on my account, and I certainly would not trust them with my e-mail.

While I would agree that most of the major premises of Harry Potter are not very original, they have been not very original for a very long time now. Pointing to one work Rowling "stole" is pretty much impossible; it is more accurate to say she worked from a store of common fantasy that many other authors have also

I could have sworn the ATX standard had this covered... I have computers 10 years old that could be swapped with new boards and rebuilt completely if I wanted. Big deal.

I know everyone is in love with the Wave, but I have a Leatherman Squirt P4 that I love for the sake of it's small size. Pocketability means I get a lot more use out of it than I would a larger mulitool.

At first I thought to myself "yeah, it looks ok, nothing special though", but considering that this was cutting edge design at the time and was so successful as to become the most common form now is kind of amazing.

Any reports on how well it works? I don't have any real urge to ditch iOS (at least not without getting a shiny new phone), but it definitely raises my curiosity.

I do most of my writing with a keyboard, but sometimes I definitely pick up the pen and paper. When I get particularly distracted or stuck it can be a great boon. It allows me to go places less accessible to computers, and causes me to think in slightly different ways.

One thing I see a lot of is people vastly overestimating their CPU and GPU needs.
