@FriarNurgle: My Mini 9 is definitely one of the sturdier little computers I've used. It had better be, because it would be impossible to replace (who else makes a full computer with no moving parts?).

I think that is the kind of thing I imagined when they started talking about micro four thirds a while back. Good to see it finally arrive.
@blyan-reloaded: There is one exception though: if the person traveling can avoid doing anything unknown while in the past, he knows exactly what to come back and do later.
I take a shower every day, but I don't soap every part of my body every day. I find that my hair gets kind of gross if I don't clean it every day. I don't think it looks bad, but I feel greasy.
@Wonko.The.Sane: Nah, if you read carefully it is worse than that. If the oxygen levels somehow increased 30%, these things would evolve naturally over the course of several generations.
I think it should be noted that that is not a real image. In fact, the abstract in question has no images or even numbers.
@Hearthatvoiceagain says Andy has arrived: Not sure what that means... Department of Defense grants are prefixed with DARPA. NSF is the national science foundation.
I sync google contacts with my Mac Address Book. I do this mostly because I prefer the Address Book interface, but do my e-mail through the Gmail interface. It is nice to have them keep the same data.
@videobeagle: Kind of. But I have a Dell Mini 9 with an SSD on a chip. Many of the early netbooks took that route. It is kind of a pain to get a replacement, but it does have a nice size benefit. It is certainly not novel now, it has been in practice for at least 3 years.
@j.walk3: No lock slot! I hadn't even thought to look for that, I consider it super standard at this point. I guess they just expect you to take it with you everywhere.
I would be more interested in one of these as a secondary computer, and as such I am more interested in the 11". 2.2lbs? Yes please. Of course, I can't afford that right now either, but I can dream.
@markiz: While we do still use those messed up complicated units (I hate them, I make every effort to use metric), the official government definitions of them are in metric.
Looks neat, but the walls look pretty thin. Are you going to be happy in there come winter? I know it looks like they hooked up a pipe for heat, but a big metal box would take a ton of work to keep warm.
No mention of Google services. Syncing your calendar, address book, and e-mail all works seamlessly. Definitely worth a look as a free option.
I don't get it. It is easy to change the SIM, how would I gain more power if the SIM was inaccessible to me? The device is already compatible to all [GSM] carriers (or would be, if Apple didn't lock the hardware for AT&T...). You just need to swap the SIM.
Never heard of Four Loko, did some looking up. That stuff claims about 12% alcohol and is sold in a 24 oz can. By the standard (US) definition of a single drink, this is almost 5. One can would fit the generally accepted medical definition of binge drinking.
I hope PC gaming survives for a long time to come. I no longer have a lot of budgetary room for buying new consoles, but I always need a good PC around.
Thanks for that little wake-up call. I have been looking to replace a Dell Mini 9, and have sometimes considered the iPad.
Just had some sad interactions... Pretty funny, but I can't imagine thinking it was human, unless perhaps I was guessing at "human with severe psychological disorder".
Yeah, from a materials science perspective, strength is the most misused word in the world. The great successes of materials science have generally been creating a material that have different properties in different locations.
