I recently got an e-mail in Norwegian (I don't speak it, but I do have a Scandinavian surname). It was a very excited message about a new baby, including a couple of pictures. I replied with a Google translation informing them that they got the address wrong and that their intended recipient had not received their

@malimbar04: The part that I find more amazing: In two weeks 40% have gotten to Windows 7? I wonder how many of those have been running 7 for a while now; I know I was. #operatingsystems

Oddly enough, I switched to a Mac recently after using Windows 7 for quite a while. I thought I would put it on this computer now that it is released, but so far I have found that both OSs meet my needs equally, and I feel no need to go out of my way to switch one for the other. #operatingsystems

Vote: Windows 7 taskbar

I never understood the snooze button to begin with. One can't get a meaningful amount of sleep in the time between snoozes, and if I wanted to sleep longer I should have set my alarm later.

I seem to have misread you. *Magic Edit*

@Stymie99: See: GBA connectivity on the Gamecube.

I'm not sure if I would pick server unavailability or data lock-in. They both are part of my main concern about cloud computing: General loss of data, regardless of cause.

If I think I might need it, I will take my netbook. Traveling with a full sized laptop is only worth it if I absolutely need it for something. Generally these days I get by with my iPhone. Even then I try not to look at it too much when on vacation...

@kyre: Just thought I would add: The afformentioned mother is one of those people that can write cursive in the text recognition of Windows and have it work perfectly acceptable.

Recently (maybe a year ago) I started trying to write everything in cursive again. I stopped using it long ago (when they stopped insisting I use it in school). My mother is an occupational therapist, so I get a lot of flack for my handwriting.

@Pink_Styrofoam: That sounds like an even better idea! I will have to investigate penetration depth. Thanks.

I wonder if there is much bleed from that dye. I had been looking for a good way to decal my laptop (black thinkpad). Laser etching wouldn't be great on matte black plastic, and decals are kind of annoying and easily damaged.

I used to like the fact that the tab bar disappeared when not in use, but after a while I realized I work a little bit faster in my browser if part of it is not always changing. I have been happily keeping it visible for a long time now.

MP3 players in phones (besides smart phones) tend to just annoy me... I really do not need to struggle with a terrible interface and poor sound quality when I can get a cheap and decent MP3 player anywhere.

@cc82: I never really understand this debate. I have a debit card that works like a Visa credit card. It is my impression that these are common.

I used to hate voicemail, but it has taken on a shinier glow since I got my iPhone. I think voicemail still has value, but most people are still using it through an archaic system of touch tone menus and computer voices. Being able to pick any message to listen to at any time and having playback controls returns the

I have been using a Dell Mini 9 for the past couple of months arguably as my primary computer (definitely spend more time on it than my powerful desktop machine). Granted, I never tried to put OSX on it (Ubuntu for me), but their arguments about hardware quality seem a little off to me.

@ValerianKeph: cGmail is great, but unfortunately does not yet have good integration with the new Ubuntu notification system. It may be a small thing, but some people just want to know that there is mail, and want that notification to look pretty.

I have been running 9.04 beta for a while now (on a Dell Mini 9), and am very pleased with it. The new notifications seemed like wasted effort to me, but after using the system for a little while I became rather fond of them.
