I think I can count my real friends on my fingers. I suppose that depends on individual interpretation.

@Izkata: Ah, you're right. Something in the back of my mind was hinting at that, but I couldn't call it up. It has been a long time since Warty.

@JBu92: Er... Since they go in alphabetical order, I can't imagine Jaunty has been used before.

Just downloaded it and checked it out. Of course I am not motivated enough to check out whether it did a good job, but it is light and easy to use. Portable apps like this have been making my life much easier lately. It is nice to know you can really remove a file after working on it on a computer I don't own.

I have been loving the Windows 7 beta on my notebook recently, but I don't think it is worth that much to me.

@kyre: Update: when I search for it on iTunes, it tells me it is not available in the US. When I click the ling in the article, it takes me there and I could download it without any trouble.

Odd... I just went to the app store on my iPhone and found it via a search. When I tap it, it pops up an error saying the item is not available.

I never have. Every once in a while I have thought about it, but I started reading the discussion pages, and I realized I really don't feel like stepping on someones pet article...

So, it definitely is impressive. I have to say my attempts to stress the system did bear fruit though...

VOTE: Skype

I am still hoping for an app that adds Gmail like features with offline message viewing, or maybe an easy way to sync with Google calendar. At least we know Google is not ignoring the iPhone now that the G1 is out.

A shame they are all widescreen. I have been looking for a way to make my T60 (4:3 screen ratio) look a bit more exciting.

@Webran61: In my opinion, better wi-fi connecting was the big kahuna of XP SP2. Sure, there was the security center, which basically just nagged you to get security (plus a bunch of other things that were not as visible), but in the long run, most users just noticed a new wi-fi connection system.

I never had a problem with Vista. I run it (Ultimate, 32 bit) on both my laptop and desktop. That being said, my laptop is normally booted into Ubuntu.

It has some potential, but I am not entirely impressed. What would impress me is a system that would allow me to set a play list, and relay all of those information options at a slightly higher volume than the music.

@DarkJule: You got Flash 9 today. Could be worse, I still am hoping for Flash 9 on the Wii.

I had not encountered Emerge before, but I just set up a desktop like the one pictured and am very pleased to be able to move the notification area (system tray) around. I have been looking for that capability for a long time now, since Launchy gets rid of my need for the Start menu and I normally alt+tab through open

I have been very pleased with the past couple of GIMP releases. I have always loved Inkscape, and wished I could use only free tools, but previously GIMP just did not live up to my needs.

For a while now I have been using a Logitech diNovo Edge. Would not have bought it myself, but it was a sort of gift, and it has grown on me.

It's Ubuntu for me. I have used a variety of distros in the past, but I have been pretty much hooked on Ubuntu since some time in 2006.
