At this point, I'd worry more about your own connection. If you have a solid internet connection with no drops in service, I wouldn't hesitate. Server stability is pretty solid at this point. I can't speak for the EU servers though.

I pretty much agree, the online component offers a lot of incentives and conveniences. So there are good sides.. But with there being far more negatives, those benefits don't come close to winning out and making the choice to require a connection worth it.
