This is what separates the real jalops from the “users”. A real Jalop doesn’t fear a clutch change. Of course my comment is fairly snobby too because it pre-supposes everyone has some place to work on their car.

Sure, but LCD is still the way to go for bright viewing areas.
Dylan Roof got Burger King after mowing down a black church.
Steve Scalise literally got shot by a guy attacking the congressional softball game. He has not changed his position. If being a victim won't change them, nothing will.
Although, as we learned with Steve Scalise, this doesn’t always hold true. The thesis of Hamilton’s argument, however, does always hold true.
They don’t care about anything until it effects them monetarily.
I laughed a horrified, velvety-dark laugh when I saw this article originally.
When I was initially upgrading my A/V system back in the day, I got an HDTV first, and surround sound second, but in reality that was the wrong order.
The thing about the “jet coming in from behind me” effect is that a cheap speaker basically does the job as well as a nice one. You’ll notice if its there or not, but you’re unlikely to be making qualitative evaluations of it. I say take your “properly set up and reasonably high quality 2.1 system” and then add a pair…
I use a 2.1 system too, but you answered your own question. Some people want to be able to hear that jet coming in from behind them, it adds to the immersion and realism. That’s why people think surround sound is better
From a music perspective, it can certainly give it “depth.” My car randomly has one of those fancy ELS systems that plays DVD-Audio (hello dead format)! Frankly its amazing that you can get the musical “richness” in something as non-audio friendly as a car... but its just ok? I do have the ability to differentiate…
When gaming, it feels like the the game is surrounding you (assuming it’s done well). It’s one of those things that seems silly until you experience it I admit, but it’s really really nice.
For movies, music and TV I’m fine with a 2.1 system, but I will say a good surround setup when playing games is kind of amazing. For an FPS style game hearing the thud of a bullet hitting the dirt just over your shoulder and then hearing the crack of a sniper rifle a second later and being able to look in the…
I’ve got a 5.2 system set up in my living room and I love the immersion I get from the rear speakers. As my living room is also my “home theater” I’d really hate to lose the way the surround effects draw me into the movie or show I’m watching.
VWs have a residual value problem. The long warranty helped residual values, which helps leases be cheaper and owners to lose less in depreciation.
Haha, “make a large financial purchase on a depreciating asset right now, regardless of your circumstances, or you can’t have opinions on things.”
Every mechanic I’ve talked to says VW is the brand to avoid because of the cost and frequency of repairs in their shops. They see them more and the bills are higher. So Volkswagen is just ensuring that mechanics get more business, it’s a win-win for everyone... except the buyer, sorry but that money’s gotta come from…
Are people’s memories really this short? Or is VW just tired of paying for repairs on poorly-built cars?
It’s already been mentioned but I feel the need to reiterate. The fact that we are calling the objective labeling of racism “politics” these days seems like the much bigger story here.
Its been my experience that nothing good ever happens when you wait until the last minute to start pulling things out.
