I laughed a horrified, velvety-dark laugh when I saw this article originally.

VWs have a residual value problem. The long warranty helped residual values, which helps leases be cheaper and owners to lose less in depreciation.

Haha, “make a large financial purchase on a depreciating asset right now, regardless of your circumstances, or you can’t have opinions on things.”

Every mechanic I’ve talked to says VW is the brand to avoid because of the cost and frequency of repairs in their shops. They see them more and the bills are higher. So Volkswagen is just ensuring that mechanics get more business, it’s a win-win for everyone... except the buyer, sorry but that money’s gotta come from

Are people’s memories really this short? Or is VW just tired of paying for repairs on poorly-built cars?

It’s already been mentioned but I feel the need to reiterate. The fact that we are calling the objective labeling of racism “politics” these days seems like the much bigger story here.

Its been my experience that nothing good ever happens when you wait until the last minute to start pulling things out.

Nah, a small percentage will cross shop. And lack of a manual cuts out huge swaths of the 911 buyer. It’s more to compare with a Cayman as the performance value at similar price points is wildly different between the two. But again, lack of a manual might prove to be a big sticking point. You can only use 495 hp a

Well.... As much as I think this is pretty great... so far... we don’t even know what the driving experience is like. Dollars to doughnuts, it doesn’t hold a candle to the Cayman. Exceptionally good handling cars is NOT GM’s strong point. And certainly not at $60K.

It costs a company 40%-50% above and beyond your wages to employ you just in payroll taxes and social security.

$40k for a Corolla on stilts. Pass. You’re right on that... that much money can get an overland-ready, well modded 5th gen 4Runner, even with the facelift (2014+).

Why did they even develop and sell the Urus then? If the goal is brand preservation and exclusivity, then stick to exotic supercars that mortals rarely see. Any OEM jumping into the SUV market is trying to 1) maximize profits, 2) increase volume, and 3) increase adoption/brand awareness - 3 things which don’t seem to

Gorgeous. It’s everything I could want. Except maybe with a V8, because I’m a troglodyte.

Conclusion: Great Recession was bad for wages. Thanks for that.

All stars to you sir.

84 month loans.

You don’t appear to be an econ major either. That chart isn’t very meaningful if it doesn’t take inflation into account.

These sounds like features rather than bugs. My family is very happy having a yard, off-street parking, a garage and an affordable mortgage on 3br twin instead of an insane rent on a 8th floor 1br walk-up.

Nope.

I used to sometimes (50% of the time?) struggle with getting the membrane off. I saw a video in which the the smokeboy used the tip of a spoon and his thumb to get the corner started and then peeled with a paper towel. It has changed my life. Or at least my rib smoking.
