The car to buy 5 years ago was a 308 or a 328. That said, they were moderately diyable so the discount means something, but with a modern Ferrari, that really isn’t the case.

Yes, I have an 86 911.

Do what I did. My kid is 1. I bought an immaculate 1998 4Runner for daily and daddy duty for 5500, spent about 1500 in preventative maintenance, lifted it and put big assed tires (if I’m gonna drive something slow at least it will be mean) and the thing is goddamn bullet proof, even though it won’t win footraces.

Yes, absolutely. And to be honest, with the right visual mods, the E60 looks pretty awesome and mean, so.... my apologies for picking on your ride, I could have found a better comparison :).

That 7 series is a lot of ugly. I agree the bangle 5 has aged better. And it’s purely subjective. But next to the E39, it makes my heart hurt.

Christ, the California has one of the ugliest rear ends I’ve seen since the bangle-assed 5 series.

Anyone who honestly believes this thing will slot “alongside” the Cayman is bonkers. I seriously doubt this will happen.

Non Sherry not available near me for whatever reason, but the 15 year caribbean cask seems intriguing.

Lol. I used to drink Oban 14 back when it was a bargain at 55 bucks. I think it’s over 80 now. That was...2004? It’s an OK scotch.

I’ve heard about the Aberlour so it may be worth trying out. The only negative review I’ve heard is that it seems to have a lot going on at once.

If Macallan is wildly overpriced where do you rank Johnnie Blue? It used to be 175, now it’s 250?

Blue label is terrible. I’m sure the Japanese whiskey is fine at 50. All I mean is that if my ideal price is 100. For the whiskeys available at 100 there should be one or two that are best. And they should be better than even good offerings at 50. While I’m sure some 50 dollar offerings that wipe the floor with 100

You know I’ve been curious about the Japanese Scotches, but the ones we have here are either at the 50 range or 150 range with little in between. I haven’t tried them because 50 seems low and 150 seems high for a casual buy.

Not a fan of any of the Johnnies, and I don’t prefer smokey or peaty, doesn’t matter to me, I just want smooth and not harsh.

I’ve had the 12 and 15 years, both fine whiskies.

Absolutely. Unfortunately I’m here in America. However if you’d be willing to ship me a few sample bottles I’d be willing to send you money :). Macallan I’m sure isn’t the best of the best, but even from my friends over on the other side of the pond, it’s reasonably well-regarded, unlike say... Johnnie Walker.

I grew up in Kentucky so I’m familiar. I just think it’s a little sweeter than I prefer - if I need to go in that family, I prefer Rye. The problem for Bourbons and Ryes is that most of them tend to taste pretty young and harsh and the ones that don’t are priced into good Scotch territory. Good option though.

Fair, I can go higher though, looking for best value at 80-120.

Whiskey knowers. I drink Macallan - I have a bottle of 18 year that cost around 200 and I love drinking it. The problem is that it costs 200 bucks. So for someone who might have 1 or 2 glasses like twice a week, what’s a great bottle for 100 bucks - give or take. I don’t mind smokey, but I do like the older whiskies

Hate to say it. But there’s an argument to why the internet should be socialized. At least the infrastructure and the mechanisms that protect it. That way there’s free and open exchange of (horrible) ideas and people like Nazis can’t claim that they have allies because the government isn’t private and can’t be
