Newsflash: Anti-black racism is not only found in America.
Newsflash: Anti-black racism is not only found in America.
She was born in England and then grew up in Florida and California, she should have some understanding of racism in America
Is that what we are calling racism now, pet issues? I guess it’s also a pet issue when the Dutch dress up as Zwarte Piet, or when some Aussies go on TV in full blackface singing songs.
I didn’t see nor criticize the film- only her decision to ignore and silence a Black women’s concerns about the way race & Blackness is portrayed.
At least you tried Rich! My god that blackface response was just terrible bullshit. She is clearly a couple of shades darker than her normal skintone in the photo. Either that or she was saying because she’s brown it shouldn’t be considered blackface which is equally bullshit. She wouldn’t be the first minority to don…
I’ll always love the Wishin’ and Hopin’ song, and any scene with Rupert Everett.
“To be frank—I don’t care if someone does or does not like my butthole.”
I don’t buy this for a single second, as a self-conscious species we care if someone does or does not like every single part of us. Which is why people wear makeup, get hair plugs, shave things, dress to disguise perceived body flaws, go to the…
“This is exactly what it was.”
I feel The Guardian made a bit of a mess about that. I believe Binoche turned down the role in “Jurassic Park” to do the lead role in the French film, “Three Colours: Blue,” which, in the eyes of critics at least, is seen as a classic. If she had to choose one project over the other due to scheduling conflicts, I…
So now you’re moving the goalposts and it has to be a critically acclaimed film?
Every single one of the dinosaurs was female. But no speaking parts, no names, no dialogue. No Bechdel pass.
I believe she turned it down to take on the starring role in the French film, “Three Colours: Blue.” Honestly, it’s an amazing film that Binoche was absolutely excellent in, so if she really had to choose between this film and “Jurassic Park,” I’m happy she made the choice that she did.
This is so fucking wrong... and right and... haa ha h aha I can’t stop laughing .
To be fair, I didn’t know Spielberg directed The Colour Purple. I’d give her a pass this once, but with a “Just so you know....”. But again, only because I too had no idea he directed that.
