Allegedly the tomcat was a big inspiration for the Russians when designing the flanker. They were trying to build an improved copy of the f14. There’s something about it online somewhere.

2 overdrives are perfect. You can run shorter more aggressive gear ratios for better acceleration and better utilization of a high revving powerband, and then you can still cruise on 2 lane highways (5th) and major highways (6th)

Big falcon rockets?

There are packaging and complexity (read: costs to end user) disadvantages that are easily compensated by more displacement (which is very space efficient in a pushrod package). A 7.0L ls7 is no larger physically than a 4.8L truck engine. And they are all incredibly compact, even compared to dohc inline engines.

I hate that you guys legitimize this con artist by continuously giving him publicity.

I would love a harley iron 883 sportster if it wasn’t so cramped and tiny. I’m looking at the Yamaha bolt instead. Or a triumph street twin.

He is oversimplifying things for the sake of lay persons. Those that don’t like his oversimplification take issue with it.

You realize you can have a high torque AND high rpm engine right? You are mistakenly perpetuating this myth that you have one or the other. This myth is the reason people don’t get it. There are big block chevy engines that spin 8000+ rpm.

I hate these stupid metaphors. Torque is rotational force. It is essentially measured in lbs.

Truly excellent recommendations. The only other thing I could possibly add is maybe a convertible of some sort. Perhaps an m roadster? I’m 6'2 and found the one I drove years ago to be fun and I had enough leg room, surprisingly. Granted, he has another 4 inches on me, but I say ditching the roof removes the upper

Look at cars like the thirdgen camaro, c4 corvette, fc rx7 as what happens when you hide the grilles. They’re not bad looking, especially for their time, but today’s larger cars need aesthetic tricks to make their proportions work correctly. You can’t put a c5 corvette front end on a truxk.

Diesels don’t have a throttle valve. There’s a reason trucks use jake brakes. Not sure a diesel is the best example of engine braking.

Bingo... I wear chucks for exactly this reason. This new sole, though, might make them my regular walk around shoes... Obviously I’d use some classic chucks for my weights.

I’m a camaro guy love the 1le’s and the ls platform but the catfish camaros have a face only mothers can love.

If you don't want someone evaluating how much you paid for something then don't brag about it. This guy should have never mentioned how much he paid for it. As soon as you start bragging about how money you can pay beyond something's normal value then it's all fair game for criticism.

There's very strong support amongst those in the know that aggressive is better for a new engine than puttering it around. Most of those rules are from the old days of splash lubricated rod bearings and flat tappet cans and inferior metallurgy and clearances all around. Nowadays the most important part of the break

Cheaper, arguably safer for people who want to drive an appliance in commuter mode. More interior space. More packaging options. More interior space. Lighter.... the list goes on.

The proper classic sports car has ALWAYS been RWD. You can put the engine wherever, you can add power to the front tires, but under acceleration you always want the drive wheels at the back of the car because that's where weight is transferred. I dont really see where the confusion is. Enthusiasts have ALWAYS wanted

speaking of that... I'd have no problem paying for /Drive if it got bundled into a netflix account. But I imagine youtube and netflix more or less compete, and nbc may or may not be down with the NF, so....

Paying for just one channel is stupid when I watch one, maybe 2 videos per month on it at their current

Tuerck'd has some AWESOME episodes... ranging from goofy top gear type stuff to some truly amazing poetry in motion art films.
