Rogue-likes are cool for all the reason's that Teti listed but also because, when made correctly, they can become Tetris like in their replayability. Playing Spelunky every day is almost hypnotic for me, as the level is always new but the rules are always the same.

'New' is such a nebulous term that it's kind of a moving goal post for video games. Games are built around systems (shoot x to y, jump over x to y, walk to x to see y, etc) so it makes sense that a lot independent developers are going to look for new ways to work within those systems as opposed to trying to invent

The creepy white under glow of John Teti's face will haunt my waking hours.

Skyrim with mods is a flipping game changer. I'd suggest some realistic needs & diseases mods and then potentially a cold weather mod. Game is a lot more interesting when you can't just stroll through a blizzard with no shirt like it's no biggie.

I gave up on that game after Portal couldn't even convert my significant other. I can't hold it against her as she has failed time and time again at the game of "convince your husband that Gilmore Girls is a good show".

Am I dense or does anybody else not know what FE:A stands for?

Mirrormoon EP actually stressed me out as I felt like I got the puzzle and I thought I was doing everything right but nothing was happening and I remember walking around the same planet over and over and over before realizing I had missed one tiny detail.

I really wanna buy Fract OSC but have been trying to keep my game buying budget low so I'm waiting for a sale. I'm kind of apathetic to the majority of my games right now so I'll probs keep plumbing the Skyrim DLC (I haven't even finished the vampire one yet) and get littered with bullet holes on the Phoenix maps in

I was the same way and DS2 has some areas that are frustrating enough to stop you for a bit. I don't know if you've been to the Gutter but fudge-bolt-nuts, man… I took a break when I got there, that's for sure.

I'm a feller who respects other people's opinions. What are the new ideas? I've only seen the crafting and skill trees really stand out so far though admittedly my knowledge of MMOs is limited to when I was part of the Burning Crusade back in 09.

It'd have to do gang-busters to beat Skyrim's 20 million units sold so I don't think it'll kill the single-player experience but it did sap a lot of Zenimax resources away from them for a while, and also took a hot steamy poop on some of the lore.

Well, this is the most positive review of this game I've seen so far but Samantha still had some issues with it.

I'm still hammering my way through Dark Souls 2. Just went on a homicidal boss streak, smiting Lost Sinner, Medusa-knock-off lady, and Big-Dumb-Lava-Bro all in a short time period.

I would love to sit in on that Mob Rules one. Ashamed as I am to say it, I do read the boards on Reddit pretty regularly and you can see the hive mentality warp there like a piece of puddy hit with a baseball. People don't seem to form their own independent opinions so much as parrot the opinions that they've

Hit RDR first, GTA IV is a good game but shows it's age much more than the handsome cowboy smile of RDR.

My advice is to actually play them in reverse chronological order starting with 2 and working your way back to Demon Souls. DS2 is probably the best at easing you into the hot tub that is Dark Souls before telling you the hot tub is full of snakes.

You'll be the only one playing You Testament man. I got pumped but then everytime I started to futz with the game, I'd say "Wait, I've only got like 30 minutes of free time to play games… Why don't I play something fun?" and pop in Luftrausers.

Katawa Shoujo has so much sequel opportunity! You go to a college for handicapped ladies where now they're into college stuff like Palestinian freedom, Physics and Weed.

The cold unfeeling eyes of the Italian Plumber. Good stuff man.

I've got a plain old 250gb SSD that's been working for me and the medium size of the drive keeps me from hoarding games. I download only a few AAA games at a time and when I beat one, I can delete it and download a new one. This makes my backlog much more manageable.
