Blast at the track? Dunno. I just took my Stage2 Mk7R to the track... two sessions in, the front tires were starting to fall apart. Sure, it’s fast, grips like nobody’s business, and is fun to drive... but not super communicative on-track, so hard to know what’s really going on where the rubber meets the road.
Agree wholeheartedly; BMW (and others) did the same - realized they were overengineering (underprofiting) and cut quality/costs while riding the coattails of their reputation and increasing perceived luxury. Really quite brilliant in a self-serving way.
