“Tweets mean nothing. That’s why I bought the company; tweets don’t matter. No one pays attention to the product of the company I just bought for $44bn. Completely useless.”

Refusing to pay rent—and subsequently getting Twitter sued for doing so—is yet another of billionaire’s controversial and questionable cost-saving strategies at Twitter.

god hes so fucking stupid. the only reason i think hes probably doing this is to get out of the leases and figures a lawsuit will cost him less money in the long run. plus he wouldnt have to pay the judgement fully or take forever to pay it.

I work for United. We use a third party (think Uber type, American also uses the same service in DC apparently) to deliver baggage if it gets lost. It’s supposed to be a service to the customer, but seems like they got the wrong bags delivered to the wrong space. Doesn’t seem like anything more nefarious then someone

Cue the antivaxers taking this as their next cure. They took hydroxychloroquine from Lupus suffers. They took my dog’s heartworm medicine. Now, they will cause shortages for diabetics and women suffering from fibroids and other gynecological issues because...that’s what they do.

Additionally, I’d imagine if you did that back in the day it was for something you were at least a little passionate about.

He didn't even co-found PayPal. He started x.com which merged with Cofinity (Cofinity was later renamed PayPal). He was fired from PayPal due to incompetence and took a golden parachute.

I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame” Musk said while completely missing the irony of the time he tried to do that when those kids were trapped in a cave

He’s been pretty adamantly opposed to work from home from the start so I’d be surprised if he backtracked on this one, even if it meant losing a bunch of people. That said it’s an idiotic mandate for someone who thinks he’s the man of the future. I sort of understand wanting certain days where everyone is in the same

I’m just surprised that Brazil

I am in no way minimizing the seriousness of this, but “some areas” being as hot as 124* in the title tease, then specifying it as Death valley, the average high in death valley for august/september is 115/107.

I came here to say pretty much the same thing you said in your 2nd paragraph. I suspect the CDC’s relaxation of COVID protocol has less to do with epidemiology and more to do with this nation’s corporate masters wanting the leverage to force workers back into their overpriced real estate.

Saw a documentary (or at least a piece of one) recently where they were showing these rather massive underground storm drains for flood use in the Vegas area. Apparently, they seldom get used given the regional climate, so they’ve become homeless encampments. Kind of like underground cities. Hope those folks made it

Speaking of strangling workflow. The graphical interface of the the browser version of Office is just absolutely atrocious. Like, it’s almost impossible to even figure out how to browse to open a damn file. How hard is it to use the standard file dialog box that everybody has used for the last 30 years? But no,

He’s a good Capitalist, he’s not a great businessman

Because in America, unless it’s a commuter line that takes you from the suburbs into the city, using public transportation is seen as something only the poors do

Musk said he runs his companies on a “meritocracy,” adding “If someone is getting stuff done, great, I love them. If they’re not, why are they at the company?”

I’m assuming you’ve never been to Montana? I spent about summers working there in the late 90s/early 2000s. The entire state tends to be a hotbed of “my way or the highway” when it comes governmental oversight and regulation. As you can see... “my way” won, so the highway is gone. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but

We have to face the facts that by the time the people in charge acknowledge that climate change is real, 99.9% of the resource battling climate change would be used just for disaster relief instead of actually battling climate change or lowering carbon emission.

Good luck keeping those tech workers Elon, market is hot for workers right now.
