If an A is the very top mark a film can get, I think a B is pretty generous. I'd give it a solid C- at best. Then again I did see it on a plane.

Not wanting to be too reductive, but I think a lot of this is fairly gender specific. One man's vaguely tolerable piece of shit is another woman's inexcusable and deliberately mediocre timesuck. And Vica Versa.

Letter grades are critical for flagging up stuff that might otherwise pass me by.

A notable UK mention is the 11 O'Clock Show. A good chunk of it was dross, but it did introduce Ali G/Sacha Baron Cohen and Ricky Gervais to the world. Mackenzie Crook was also on it.
