Well said! And if white audiences where legitimately interested in confronting bigotry they would accept a marginalized protagonist as their official point of view for the film. People learn from empathizing with others and better understanding that reality. It is not necessary to add significant depth to white

But we’re not.

if you believe that older white people don’t need to be told to be less racist anymore because that’s an issue from the past, look around.

Times change. Trains barreling towards audiences aren’t shocking anymore; similarly, the specific type of “message movie” you describe is much less groundbreaking in 2019 than it could’ve been in 1967. I haven’t watched Green Book either, so I’ll focus instead on what the main issues are with the genre you described.

Did it teach him to be less racist?

I’m willing to bet that Green Book’s Oscar win pushed Biden over the edge to run for President. Biden is this movie anthropomorphized.

Doesn’t worry me. He might agree at some point to be coached, but he can’t stay on script, no matter what he agrees to our promises.

At this point, I don’t think Trump is capable of sustained, measured, scripted responses for any length of time.

Woah I actually had no idea she speaks English, French, Italian, German, Serbo-Croatian and Slovene. Is it possible that she’s actually... intelligent? That would make her such a worse human!

i agree but i think it’s both - he’s not intellectually curious or book smart, but was always able to form coherent, intelligible thoughts to mask his bullshit via proper sentence structure.

not a chance. he will not ever publicly acknowledge that he’s anything other than perfectly healthy, and the GOP would literally lock him away in the East Wing and have Pence do the public appearances before allowing any evidence that he may have been unfit at any point. this is also man who threatened to sue a random

She’s basically telling him what he wants to hear or using therapist type language to get him to feel safe and keep talking. There is a strategy being employed by those reporters.

TRUMP: So, I was seated next to the wife of Prime Minister Abe [Shinzo Abe of Japan], who I think is a terrific guy, and she’s a terrific woman, but doesn’t speak English.

I applaud the interviewers for staying with it — about midway through I probably would gone all Joe Pesci with a pen on him.

I’m going to have nightmares about how he calls his granddaughter “Honey” then demands she say “I love Grandpa” in Chinese.

But then he goes on with “here’s something where you walk up and say I want my insurance, it’s a very tough deal but something we’ve done a good job of.”

$12 life insurance is a thing, for a 21 year old.

He also thinks Akie Abe doesn’t speak English.

That fun little nugget was absolutely the most terrifying part for me...like this man thinks we’re all up in arms over $12/month insurance? Can we uh...please have $12/month insurance that appreciates over time?

People don’t realize he loves holding my hand. And that’s good, as far as that goes.
