I go over the speed limit fairly regularly but running a red seems like a significantly more severe infraction to me. I’ve never run a red in my entire life. I would absolutely stop for this thing but I don’t always slow down for speed indicator signs.

If it’s a red light camera that can issue a ticket, it becomes much more effective, much quicker. My guess is running a red light in a school zone is fairly hefty fine.

What CPO are you getting from a reputable brand for under $20k these days?  Provide source.

There it is.

Cars are out of control. Just a few years ago, people who make my current income would be in the Lexus GX / BMW 5Series / etc. level of car according to the rule of thumb about payment vs. income.

Back when I’d trade in and buy new as soon as I paid off my four-year loan (under $200 per month) new cars cost considerably less and I made considerably more.

Of course I have. My answer to anyone who asks this is ‘Old cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians are legal here. So, anything considered safe enough for an unrestricted section of an autobahn is safer than what we already have.’

Out of those 3 I’d definitely go for the Rio.

I bought a new Mirage when they first came out and it was a great car. I gave it to my sister and she’s still driving it. Cheap new cars are important. There are a lot of advantages to buying new like a longer warranty, they’re easier to get financed. Plus it’s just nice having something new. That experience shouldn’t

I’m not going to do all the homework, but I bought a Festiva new in 1991 for $7k. That’s just over $13k today. At that time, I could cross-shop against the Subaru Justy, Suzuki Swift/Pontiac Firefly/Geo Metro, Dodge Colt, Ford Escort, Honda Civic, and others. Lots of choice due to the hangover of high fuel and

Don’t forget the Chevy Bolt EV!

Coincidentally, I looked at the Versa configurator yesterday to see how base a base model actually is for one of the cheapest new cars in the US. It comes with power windows and locks standard, and also comes with A/C standard (plus some safety doodads that are required now). I assumed you could still get a true base

While this is my preferred type of car, I don’t see it changing unless the combination of fuel and financing costs make it impossible for a significant number of people to buy the common offerings. I think subcompacts are excellent, but every article I read always has the vast majority of commenters saying ‘this is

It more describes how compromised subcompact crossovers are. Not only do they get worse fuel economy than their (increasingly extinct) sedan counterparts, they get worse fuel economy than considerably larger sedans.

It weighs over 4000lbs!  That’s what kills the mpg.

It’s longer and lower, but not really much bigger. The old one was *really* tall. Neighbors had the Buick version - the new Chevy is no bigger inside, just arranged differently.

absolutely wild that something that big is the cheapest car in their whole lineup.

I can top that in my ecoboost Maverick.

30 combined from a FWD compact that only has 137 horsepower seems like a ripoff. That this is a big improvement over the last Trax just highlights what a pile of shit that car was.

I’ve ran on and off my whole life since the mid 1970s. When I was a kid my dad completed a marathon.
