I can’t go through your entire diatrabe of garden variety often debunked swarm of negativity (it’s already past 1AM here and I’m too tired), so I’ll just say that electrification is still rapidly ongoing, and you shouldn’t judge tomorrow by the state of today.

Yeah, imagine how many shit overly heavy, thirsty crappy ass hybrids with double power trains and even more failure points you could make, instead of switching over to clean electric-only vehicles.

Tell that to the investors who screamed bloody murder when Tesla lowered profit margins.

You’re right, but you’ve got the cause and effect backwards. Americans will pay more money for a larger vehicle, end of. If I’ve got to develop advanced tech to get a vehicle through tough crash and emissions regs, the headroom afforded by a higher sale price with effectively the same engineering and manufacturing

Automakers stopped making and selling small, fuel-efficient cars because people stopped buying them when gas got cheaper and loans became easier to get. Mass-market, low-margin models rely heavily on economies of scale, so once sales drop below a certain amount, automakers can genuinely start losing money on each sale.

The battery in the EV is part of the drivetrain. It’s like saying, “imagine if my 10-speed automatic transmission was trashed and I couldn’t go to Walmart and buy a replacement in an emergency”

In a decade will my electric car be as obsolete as an iPhone 5?

Allow me to grossly simplify the sedan culling that everyone appears to have subjective feelings about.

Profit is not correlated to sales volume. There is also the cost of the money. Let’s say the Fusion has a 6% return, if Ford can shuffle that money into something else and make 8%, they should do that rather than make the Fusion.

Get circular polarized glasses like pilots use.

People fall asleep at the wheel no matter what car they drive. A car with autopilot will give people more time to wake the drive up.

I think that in the vast majority of cases, these are not people intentionally falling asleep after engaging autopilot. But it really just exposes a fundamental flaw of anything less than level 5 autonomy- human drivers are terrible at paying attention and remaining awake unless they have a continuous task to

It’s not just about the discordant edgy details. The proportions and slab-like body sides also look crap.

Which one is supposed to be the better looking one?
