I’m reading a couple series written by Raymond L. Weil published through Amazon. Characters are many times over-the-top, but man he likes to write massive space battles. And in the precious few times he’s written ground battles, I was grinning.

Funny thing is, I didn’t realize Poe was behaving like an arrogant, loose cannon fighter jock until much later. For some reason, I thought that Star Wars was just going to continue with the “loose cannon does something reckless and saves the day” trope and I did not realize in the beginning how small the rebel fleet…

Sometimes I want my military sci-fi with paper-thin characters and I just want to read about tactics and stuff blowing up. :-)
