My biggest problem with this is Ms. Janet acting like Jada can’t have her own opinions on the matter and that she MUST be speaking for Will. Jada, if nothing else, has ALWAYS been outspoken, even when Will has been mute on sensitive topics. Both Jada and Janet made valid points, but that really rubbed me the wrong

It wasn’t Oscar worthy at all, but then again, neither was Eddie Redmayne in the Danish Girl (or JLaw in Joy) and yet.... But, that doesn’t negate the fact that this year was a comparatively good year for actors/directors of color and they STILL didn’t get anything.

Exactly. But my issue was the idea that a foreign reporter shouldn’t be sent to an event hosted by the HFPA, an association that has members from 55 different countries. It’s a stupid contention to have. Also, I’m not really upset he was taking pictures either. That’s par for the course in the current media landscape.

I’m well aware, thanks sweetcheeks. But English is notoriously difficult to learn, so even when you know it, there are nuances that are harder to capture. Certain things are harder to directly translate, especially if they are harder to discern in speech vs writing. But, sure.

Why would they send a foreign reporter to an event hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association? Oh.

That’s a hard pass for me.

Because they would rather award white mediocrity. That’s why. Michael B. Jordan did a better job than both Fassbender and Redmayne, but... ya know...

Absolutely! He could easily replace Fassbender. EASILY.

He deserved it for the Aviator and he probably knows that, but he’ll take this either way. Denzel probably knows he didn’t deserve his for Training Day (he deserved it for Malcolm X), but I’m sure he’s not that upset about it.

Both Eddie Redmayne and Michael Fassbender can be omitted and replaced with Michael B. Jordan and Will Smith, tbh.

The Oscars are so fucking white, geez. AND THERE WERE ACTUALLY MOVIES THEY COULD’VE NOMINATED THAT WERE BOTH CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED AND HAD POC. Whatever.

Leo is gonna win b/c there’s no other frontrunner. He IS the frontrunner.

I’m so tired.

I actually agree with that. Will’s performance in “Ali” was better than Denzel’s performance in “Training Day” but they were both very, very good.

Oh, I think Denzel was great in Training Day, so I’m not mad about this.

He definitely should’ve won for Raging Bull. Bar None.

It’s a terrible cycle.

No, he deserved an Oscar for both “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” and “The Aviator”. If (*coughs*when*coughs*) he wins for the Revenant, I’ll treat this like I treated Denzel Washington’s win for “Training Day”... I’ll pretend he won for one of his better performances (in Denzel’s case, “Malcolm X”).

Wait. You thought OP was using Azealia as an example for something and not just as a standard reaction gif? I don’t understand....

Is this your girlfriend? It’s okay if it is. No judgment.
