About what, exactly?

While I really like the round icons, the Mail one is still a shameless copy of Apple’s version, just with a round mask applied.

If you log in with a Microsoft account, some of these things should happen automatically. I think.

Why are we even paying any attention to such people?

In all fairness, many people make “Hackintoshes” — PCs running OS X. And few Mac users dual boot Windows because it’s such a great OS — more often, they need a Windows app or want more choice in gaming. (Not saying Windows isn’t a great OS — Windows 10 seems quite cool in my experience!)

Think of it as a Safari feature, not an iOS feature. It’s only coming to Chrome if Google builds it, and they could have done it way before Apple did. Google probably isn't going to do this, though, because that way they’d be eating at their own ad revenue.

Yay, a unicorn! This is going to be a beautiful, nah, FABULOUS update!

But you can also hold down the Command button to open an overlay that shows you all available keyboard shortcuts in the app you’re using, which is pretty helpful.

Microsoft gives away free licenses of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to all students worldwide over their Dreamspark program, as well as Visual Studio and other software for developers. These are the Industry Pro versions of Windows, but are supposed to be completely usable as your desktop OS. (If you want the Metro apps

I’m looking forward to this one right here:

TIL a new meaning for ETA. And I was thinking you accidentally typed the wrong three-letter acronym, haha.

Yes, the app is not free. Also, estimated time of arrival? What?!

The title is misleading; the article covers only carriers operating in the USA.

You sound smart, take my star. Let's hope somebody can provide a simple explanation on how this is supposed to work.

I’m pretty sure you can back up the executables and they will work. Because of reasons that made sense at the time, when I upgraded from Vista to 7, I backed up Windows Calendar which had a feature that Windows Live Calendar doesn’t. It worked just fine in Windows 7. Also, some developers have managed to port Windows

Spotify Connect is great. I have a 30-pin iPhone/iPod dock with decent sound on my nightstand. I usually keep my 4th gen iPod touch plugged in there, and when I’m working at my desk, I open Spotify on the iPod and control it from my iPhone. It’s a great alternative to buying an AirPlay or Bluetooth speaker.

AFAIK Origin doesn’t need to run in the background when playing a game. That's certainly an upside. Game installation, on the other hand, is quite cumbersome, with old-fashioned installers, CD keys and all that noise.

Here’s some good tips for taking care of a baby. #2 is about choosing the right babysitter.

Windows... what?

Indeed. I’d say the Today view (with widgets) in the iOS Notification Center is part of Apple’s answer to Google Now. It’s not as contextual, but it’s a screen you can pull up (or, well, down) to see what’s going on besides notifications — weather, news, etc., plus there is actionable stuff like the OneNote and Swarm
