I have to ask this, because I don’t know exactly how to couch the google query:
When Toyota got burned last time, were there no case studies in any b-schools or trade rags to show how they were planning against the next one? Are people that lead public companies really that ignorant of what other public companies face?
I

Ouch. As a Nissan guy, I can appreciate a well-earned Toyota burn.
Well played, sir; well played, indeed.

Understood. I am in the SUV and off-roading part of my middle aged-ness.
However, with a long torso, I could only borrow my brother’s Del Sol if it was sunny, because I had to step in and slide down into the seat.  There was no way I was getting in, even at 22, with that roof on.

This.
Those days are behind me, also, but it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy being hyper-aware and efficient on a cloverleaf or exit ramp.  I don’t pretend that I will ever pilot the streets of Monaco anymore, but this mental exercise is still enjoyable.  Since we will all be dust by the heat-death of the universe, what

Then there were the bHP numbers at a certain RPM, so that insurance companies would not crap themselves over certain muscle cars in the 60's and early 70's.
“This makes 360 horsepower! ...at 2900 RPM
“What was that bit at the end?”
“Hmm?  Oh, nothing.”

Lord....
Yes, it will be. And we can say, “I knew it then, when it was just a frustration for the buyer.” We will sit around our keyboards and sip old man beer, muttering about the one that got away.

Yes, for the manufacturers and customers.
For states finding ways to pay for roads as heavier vehicles travel on them (vehicles, in this case, that don’t pay a fuel tax, which is typically used for road maintenance), this is more problematic.

I will stick with what I know.
Nissans with the VQ35DE and a 5sp auto. That will get you an Altima, some Maximas, and maybe an Xterra. Some will have a 5 or 6 speed manual.
They are reliable, no matter how much people hate the interior kit. At 5k, you are before a lot of the terrible ICE, so you can install your own

Boar hunting can be done with handguns in some of the southern states.
For people on the Gulf Coast between the cities, you hunt with whatever you can get your hands on.

What would you be willing to transport safely in the back.

Any other requirements, like mpg or number of seats?  Is the AWD required, or would part time 4x4 with transfer case be appropriate? Car, truck, or SUV?  I’ll play mini-Tom McPharland for you.

Live in an apartment for a bit, wait for the market to cool, then go back?
RV across the country and work remote?

Dude. Good luck.
We closed in February of 2020, 392k out the door, new construction.
To buy this floorplan in the SAME neighborhood with new construction, you will start at 470k, and you won’t get the deck.

Nostalgia.
Why would someone buy a new Camaro SS, which is miserable to ride in, impossible to see out of, and a pain to insure? Because their buddy had a ‘68 in high school.
I like Nissan. They aren’t always perfect, and have had a bad run recently, but that doesn’t mean I rush to defend them. I am also an Arizona

It is not clear why, exactly, since they haven’t sent me the full bill yet”

Hammond’s was awful. It was enough to make you question whether all of those accidents have scrambled his brain more than we previously thought.
I thoroughly enjoyed Clarkson’s Farm.  It had, if not a full reality to it, real people that didn’t know how to fake it for a reality show.  We also got to see his girlfriend

Fucking hell.
I regret that I have but one star to give.

I know this one won’t get picked, given the gamut of cell phone usage posts, but here goes:
Cell phone at the stoplight. Cell phone when you are FIRST at the stoplight.
FIRST!
You have an obligation, not as a ‘car guy/gal’ but as a human being to up and SCOOT the flip out the way. I don’t give a fat baby’s dick if your

But.... Will they be published here?  Or... maybe on some other platform?

Jeebus.
Is there EVER a time when Toyota-guy decides to pass on an opportunity to mention the mileage on their vehicle and how much longer it will go?

In the meantime, tell me about your frame rails and tape deck.
