The latest news I’m hearing says that he was convicted, which would have disqualified him from owning guns because of federal domestic violence laws. But the Air Force apparently failed to report his conviction to the FBI, so it didn’t come up on the background check and he was able to buy the guns legally.

He wasn’t dishonorably discharged. He received a “bad conduct discharge”, which is a different thing. Dishonorable discharges are generally reserved for people who have committed the most heinous crimes—murder, rape, treason, that sort of thing. It sounds like he bought and possessed his guns legally.

I really, really doubt that this was Tillerson’s call. Just like Rosenstein’s letter about the Comey firing, it will emerge soon enough that the White House pressured the State Department into releasing this assessment as a means of justifying a decision they likely made months ago. I would also bet money that Jeff

I never tweet. Instead I post my ill-conceived youthful opinions on SplinterNews.com, where at least they (probably?) won’t be found by a future employer.

Uh-huh.

Excuse me, sir. The second amendment is exclusively reserved for good, white, Christian, Real American men who need to defend themselves from scary blacks and Muslins. When women, non-whites and liberals defend themselves with firearms, it’s called “terrorism”.

Who was accused of doing the, uh, junk-rubbing?

That’s the thing. Where are they going to go? Europe, where the taxes are significantly higher? Most American rich people want to be where the action is, so they live in places like NYC, LA or San Francisco. Which is why the rents in those places are so damn high! Some small percentage of them may move to Belize,

Fair enough. I mean, I’ve been afraid for a while that this could happen, so I’ve been trying to take steps to get ready for the possibility. But I see a lot of people around here who seem to have this romantic vision of an easy revolution—overthrow the government, banish all injustice, everybody goes home for

No one should be chomping at the bit for a fucking civil war. If we have one, millions of people will die. We are talking about the total disintegration of one of the most powerful, extensive and populous nations in the history of the world. We have more guns, bombs, military hardware, and chemical/biological/nuclear

I suppose they could bring up Trump on state charges, but that would also represent an unprecedented conflict between the state and federal governments that I’m not sure Mueller would be too keen to initiate. I mean, everything else about this administration is unprecedented too, but those are dangerous waters. What

In any case, reports are stating that Mueller has “dozens” of sealed indictments still awaiting release, including Donald Trump, personally.

Thank you. People, there are so many legitimate reasons to freak out about the Trump administration. Can we please stop making up bogus extra ones?

They already have that authority in practical terms, thanks to the extremely broad language of the original AUMF.

I’m no fan of these guys... but come on. They are requesting that the AUMF be extended with no changes, as every administration has since 9/11. Are you going to call Obama a traitor too?

My dad tried to tell me the other day that not one solitary person has been detained or deported by the Trump administration who did not have a criminal record. I sent him a link to this story and he told me “the media” made it up; fabricated it out of whole cloth.

I certainly hope so, but I’m not holding my breath.

The allegations have been out for over a year. He won the election after 16 women accused him of sexual assault. If he was going to face consequences for this, it would have happened already.

Obama was by no means perfect when it came to border policy, but it was always clear to me that he was at least attempting to rein in the worst excesses of the DHS. Of course, they (and most Republicans) saw this as tantamount to treason, some kind of surrender to illegal immigration—even though the Obama
