Car is super rad, but in that video, Choi comes off as extra douchey. More so than he usualy does.

You’ve looked up how Donner Pass got its name, right?

Wonderful yarn.

And it was surprisingly comfortable doing it! I keep doing things with these cars that I’m positive makes the engineers shake their heads, but they did a fine job making a city car that can criss cross a country.

I have an old 911 also (3.2 Targa) and an automatic F10 5-series as a daily. It’s a nice combo especially considering my commute is entirely stop-and-go traffic, you’ll probably enjoy the difference.

Great story! And sharp car. To be fair, the proper tires for that wouldn’t be any good in that weather even if they were brand new!

Last pic is great. The vertical headlight wiper looks like the car is giving everyone or everything a big fat middle finger.

Very much enjoyed this, thanks!

Dyslexia kicked in and I read that as you sold it and bought a 2.3 Catera and liked it better.

I don’t know about that, I’ve almost died in my Subaru when ever major fluid was flushed, it was spilled and got on the exhaust manifold.  5 minutes driving back home, I got nauseous and had to roll down the windows, almost blacked out (coolant and other things heating and getting into the car).  Their excuse? “Oh,

Awesome, thank you for sharing! I’m currently considering my next purchase and I was eyeing one of these. But I have that same problem, they’re all very rough. I can’t seem to find one I would pull the trigger on.

One Russian dash cam video has someone get mad and get out of their car to yell at the driver of an SUV. The back window rolled down, and a man with a mask had one of those. The driver seemed to quickly wish them good day and get back in his vehicle.

I’ve only seen Gary while riding on the Megabus to Chicago. Holy crap...

Loved it. Also impressed by the pictures. Paraphrasing Aldrin, beautiful - magnificent desolation.

Here, here. My colleague lost a tire in Gary, IN. Not outside a steel mill, but INSIDE a steel mill. Looked under his newest Silverado for the spare and it had been stolen with the little lift winch cable cut. It’s Friday at noon and he has to drive back to Detroit.

Agreed. There’s just something about Gary. I was on a road trip and both of my headlight bulbs decided to burn out in a snowstorm just south of Gary. I had to drive by my fog lights (high beams were useless, unless I wanted to jump into hyperspace) to the first exit where I saw a Meijer from the highway.

No it was not, at the time they did not have one with enough capacity, 850 weighs 4000+

I live in Chicago, and my girlfriend and I decided that we wanted to take a late night drive.. I decided to head to Indiana, and we stopped by Gary and holy shit man.. Gary looks like a third-world country.  We pulled over by one of the factories where they make steel to take pictures at like 11 pm at night, and one

I have family next to Gary… I drove up once to stay with my aunt and, I forget which main highway it was by there, but I was doing 10 over *in the slow lane* to try and not get run over, while driving on what appeared to be a freshly bombed road… I’m still impressed that car held itself together…

Some of my worst cross-country experiences have been in or around Gary.
