Thank God, this crap is getting ridiculous.

I have never, ever had a dealership do more than take a photocopy of my license. Certainly they did not run it, nor did they run my credit JUST to do a test drive (it’s locked, they can’t without my letting them). And I have test driven some pretty high end cars.

Right there with you. A full background check to *test drive* a car? Get outa here.

It’s a more efficient Golf with a nicer interior - what’s not to like?

I yet I could do probably 85% of my trips with that range. And the rest with a very efficient ICE. Even without hybrid, the 1.4Ts get 40mpg when driven like an adult. They are also quite reliable.

She’s a white lady who will be shined up as bright as a new penny for her trial, even if it goes to trial, and inevitably the most serious charges will be dropped. She will get a slap on the wrist at worst, and may well get probation and “counseling”.

In general, I agree with you. Bail should be low or non-existent for minor first offences. But not in this case. This *series* of crimes was far too serious to not make even the bail hurt a bit. And drunk driving, especially with this high of a BAC, tends very much to be habitual. This time she just wigged out,

If she’d been pretty she would have been released on OR for $0.

Have your damned star.

Deep, cold freshwater lakes generally have very little oxygen at the bottom. No oxygen, not things that eat things, and no rust. There are still recognizable bodies floating around inshipwrecks at the bottom of Lake Superior...

Andy is likely both.

VW’s early MKVII touchscreen radio is among the very, very few I don’t want to take a hammer to. How did they go from that to the absolute hot mess they have today?

So you never touch the stereo or HVAC controls? Or in some cars, the wipers and even the headlights? Not everything can be automatic all the time.

Consumer preference is lead by the manufacturers. And yes, they demonstrably are cheaper to manufacture today. That was the whole reason Tesla put everything on the stupid screen.

Exactly! There are so many absolutely horrid interfaces out there - and too many car touchscreen systems are at the top of the list.

I could not possibly agree with you more.

Thankfully they usually grow up and get a clue eventually. I was a first-class idiot when I was 27. At 55 I have matured to about the level of moron on my good days, at least when it comes to cars.

I absolutely can use a touchscreen. I am an actual computer hardware engineer, I can use any interface from a bank of programming switches to a command line to a Tesla.

Saab Night Mode. I miss that sooo much, having had three of them with it.

Why? Because if it came that way from the factory, Ford couldn’t make an extra grand from idiots willing to pay it.
