Great scene, great commentary. I hadn't seen this movie before. This might be my new favorite Paltrow performance, actually; she's subtle, precise and elegant.

Much agreed, and I thought the choice of songs was pretty much perfect. It wasn't just for the content, it was for the tune itself, musically: low enough that anyone could purr it out, and straightforward enough that you didn't really need to listen too closely to it to catch the tune.
I wouldn't have worded it quite the same way but I did have that reaction too. Fourth-wave feminist revision is something that I support, but it can also be an all-consuming thing. Is there ever a situation where we can talk about a show without dissecting its setup thematically? I mean, they went to the trouble of…
Passion struck me as the first act of a typical Mel Gibson revenge arc movie, honestly. So many of his movies, we get that "likeable Mel Gibson character who goes through hell" business in the first half-hour or 45 minutes so that when he brings all sorts of violent terror to his enemies, it's totally justified. The…
That's actually what bugs me about how most paladins are played. Max CHA, dump WIS, INT unlikely to be amazing… This should be a super likeable ditz, not The Scariest Bureaucrat or Sooo Much Wuv. I get how people read the alignments and think of the stereotypes and get to that outcome, but it never really held up…
Waif seems obvious to me, Jaqen and/or Kevan Lannister are both decent bets and Lancel and the Septa are both in the "when not if" category for me. Brienne can take Jaime in a fight but I don't think they'll meet yet, no way Bronn or the Greyjoys go, Podrick's not useless in a fight and I still think we'll see…
I've run across a couple well-played paladins, but oy vey, they're rare.
I was surprised at how much I liked Hand of Fate, too. In theory it seemed like a disposable sort of fun-and-forget type game, but in practice it held together much better than I expected. I put a surprising amount of time into it. I did hit a brick wall of difficulty at some point, though.
Stomping Cerberus flat in ME1 and then working for them in ME2: that threw me off, too. I kept expecting someone, anyone to react somehow. Especially given Miranda's story, it seems like she'd have known someone I pinata-shotgunned or blasted with my bouncy tank.
Lawful Stupid, Stupid Good or just stupid?
I get what Origin thinks they're doing, but I don't get what Origin's actually doing. On The House, the free stuff and sales: good and fine. You have to get players to have large libraries for them to invest in your DDP, so, good call; Steam never would've taken off the way it did without those insane $5-for-AAA…
I never know what to say to a friend whose absence from a gaming group makes said group work much, much better. "Hey… Welcome back. How's… How's life?"
Also forgot to mention I also picked up Hacknet on Steam for $5, so I'll be trying that this weekend too. I loved me some Uplink, but follow-up attempts have had more mixed results. I'm looking forward to it, though.
Bargainwatch: I Don't Talk About Console Games Because I Don't Own Any Current Consoles, Not Because I'm A Prick (all in USD no less!) Edition - Some very solid bargains going on at the moment for a certain type of gamer, actually. Steam has the DiRT franchise on sale for decent-to-sawbuck prices. They're also…
That detail makes me weirdly curious about this movie. All of the reviews I read are just dreadful but then it sounds like it's making a killing in China.
I haven't read this. That said, he *started out* by suggesting she take 'ludes so she'd be more open to his advances? And it sounds like their Super Romantic OMG First Time involved her being fed to him like a goat being fed to a (misogynistic, ancient, domineering) T-rex in a large, heavily-fortified enclosure. …
I was mouthing off before, but come to think of it, I like your version better. Can I change my answer?
She probably leaves it vague because "you will receive a quickie handjob while I pretend to try not to let my disgust shine through my every pore" doesn't have the same ring to it.
Oh yeah, no question. It's a super hard life and guys like Forrest Griffin openly admit that they couldn't take a teenage girl these days, their bodies are so broken down. And frankly, KS looked muscular but never really that healthy, even on TUF.
At least he was game for whatever. When Dana White said the only way Kimbo would fight in the UFC is on the show, boom, he's on the show—and he looked like he was really listening and working, from what they showed us. Can't blame a guy for taking what he's given and making something of it.
