I feel like the use of words like hyperbole, spurious and bombastic means he did what he’s accused of and is just claiming it’s blow out of proportion. It’s the kind of thing a lawyer advises you to say so you can deny something without actually saying you didn’t do it.
And his reputation should be tarnished by this - he does come across as an ok guy, and I agree that he could have thought this was a joke, but it wasn’t funny and it was sexual assault and even if it had been less offensive, he should have stopped when she asked him to. On all strikes, he’s out.
Yes. If she had been someplace, anywhere else in the house I would be willing to give him the benefit of a doubt, but she was hiding in the freaking bathroom, What burglar, presumably there to rob the house, goes into the bathroom?? (except maybe one who had something wicked for dinner & it caught up??)
Shoulda been more of a King Leer and less of a King... uh, Bad Touch?
Have you heard this excellent (shocking, horrifying, tragic) two-part Radio Ambulante episode about Colombia’s unregulated black market for cosmetic surgeries? I highly recommend it to anyone who speaks Spanish (and I think there’s an English transcription available too).
Yeah - I’d be surprised they granted him the grounds to appeal, but, then, again, he’s a white Olympian cis-gender male.
Australian press spelled it out: during the final shows of a production of King Lear, Rush (Lear) allegedly used a scene where he carries his daughter Cordelia’s body across stage as an opportunity to grope her genitals. The actress is Eryn Norvill, a young but respected figure on the Australian stage. After the first…
Have you been on another planet for the past 30 years?
you’ll be fine. Go away for a few years and then come back and most will forget this. All these men thinking there lives are over haven’t been paying attention all of history and our society loves a comeback story.
Here’s what Trevor Noah said about the “grab em by the pussy” thing. It bears repeating here.
Music has been vulgar for generations. ESPECIALLY punk, rock, and rap. Men have been singing and rapping about popping pussies for at least a decade, and a whole wave of people seem to be specifically upset that Cardi B, and women in general, are the ones doing it.
Look, I get that she is an example of intersectional feminism (WOC, sex-positive, feminist opinions that are not academic) but I have a problem with the way every single fucking article conveniently overlooks her expressions of bigotry, leaving it up to the readers to invariably get all REEEEEE in the comments. Yes,…
Defending Offset isn’t even the worst of what she’s said. There’s also the whole transphobia and rape joke selection of Cardi B quotes to draw from...
I’m not saying people need to burn her records. Just saying for me, personally, it’s hard to get past that. It’s 2018. I really can’t understand why at this point, people are still giving gay people shit.
No, you’re accountable for the things you say. And she said some dumb crap. Defending her partner’s homophobic remarks is not an act that’s beyond her control.
“Pop that pussy while you work/Pop that pussy up in church/Pop that pussy on a pole/Pop that pussy on the stove.”
What is this coveted status Tony Robbins and George Will seem to think accusers enjoy? These turds think Anita Hill or Rose McGowan or Andrea Constand are walking around with a #MeToo punch card where if you accuse nine high profile men of sexual misconduct, you get a free mani/pedi with the tenth accusation.
I would just ask her next time she texts you one, “Curious why you use the brown emoji?” or something. I personally agree that it’s weird and it’s okay to ask in a non-confrontational way if it gives you good information about the kind of person they.
I feel like “racist POS” is kind of harsh, for that. At worst, she might just be clueless or unintentionally condescending. Neither of those are wonderful, but they can be fixed and don’t mean she’s a terrible person.
