My partner and I did a test-run of the suburban life this past weekend and quickly realized it was not for us. There’s no point in moving into a larger space if you’re going to spend 2-3 hours less at home each day because of the commute. I’ll keep my tiny apartment if it means we don’t need to own a car and can both

People keep claiming it’s all an inevitability, but that’s not true.

You can survive Father’s day!

If you work at it, you will eventually, like me, need to be reminded that it even is a thing!

My dad disowned me when I was 9 at the behest of his new wife.

He was a big name on the radio in Philly and I also went into radio and voiceover in the Tri State area during and after college..prob

My father was extremely abusive and estranged me and my siblings when I was a teenager just over a decade ago now. I’m thankful that he’s gone, but father’s day is definitely a trigger for me.

They are Mississippi’s best kept secret (or something like that)

I like buying something meaningful like that. While it certainly wasn’t a “bargain” purchase, last summer we bought a painting from a local artist when we were traveling.

Totally. The only souvenirs I like are the occasional low-key, non-touristy T shirt. It’s a practical purchase that you can wear immediately, plus a great conversation piece for years to come.

Me too! My favorite is to find a local shop selling art/design items from local artists and get postcards there. Finding stamps and a post office also ends up being a fun project an excuse to explore the city I’m visiting in a different way. It’s led me to a gorgeous post office in Prague, to a 6th floor post office

Similarly, I like to buy stickers to put on our Thule rooftop cargo box. They are also cheap and kind of fun.

As souvenirs I like to get refrigerator magnets of the places I go. Cheap, don’t take up much room in luggage, and don’t clutter up my home.

The only souvenirs I buy now (apart from foreign or hyper regional candy for my coworkers) are postcards and stamps that I send to friends and all the kids in my life. I always send one to myself, and, even though I know it’s coming, it’s REALLY nice to get a postcard on your return home.

I’d recommend to save money from souvenirs and spend that on experiences. I look back at the times I traveled while broke and bought crappy souvenirs (for me or for friends back home) that really ended up just being junk that collected dust. Photos ended up being much more significant in the end.

I’m spending FAR less money now.

They fold so well!

Totino’s FTW!  They are even edible if you skip the over and microwave them.  Pizza sandwich!

The touring company was hilarious when I saw them in February, so if it’s those folks we’re in good hands.

I am convinced that the reason why I didn’t find the new MST3K funny was that very few of the new cast were Midwesterners. Hopefully this even newer group grew up in the land of Pamida, soybean fields, and stifling Protestant monoculture so that they can really capture that understated vibe.

If I can wrangle an hour by myself I am loading up a video game and blowing up everything I see to kingdom come(I have so many mini-nukes and power cores in Fallout 4 I am just firing a Fatman into any crowd of enemies because why the fuck not then explosive shotgunning surviving ghouls). Plan B is Borderlands with

We have a chest freezer and bought an extra turkey at Thanksgiving when they were cheap. I also froze a couple of bags of cranberries because I’m one of those people who loves cranberry sauce. I had no issues getting ingredients for stuffing in our grocery pickup order. I’m really looking forward to Thanksgiving in

I’ve actually seen a lot of those movies on MST 3000. So it looks like they use public domain films...pretty smart.
