That’s funny, because IIHS says otherwise about Volvo’s front collision warnings, scoring 5 points and earning the superior rating. I will trust that institute that does car safety for a living.

It is very unfair: this one had been fiddled around by the team the night before the show, and some human made a mistake. The current system is far more reliable now, I can attest it.
Moreover, the purpose of this technology is to save your ass when you screwed it, much like airbags, and this happens a lot: Germany

That car does not have the pedestrian detection/auto braking system installed, it can’t fail if it’s not there to start with. Just an idiot owner.

Ok, that’s a reasonable way to look at it.

Volvo’s “issue” is that a Level 3 autonomous system is inherently dangerous and shouldn’t be used at all, due to the allowance of distraction for the driver but reliance on the driver to take over in emergency conditions.
